swedish whitebeam (Sorbus Intermedia) is it not?
  3. Anyone tried the mini HD or the mini HD2? £90 for HD and £100 for HD2 I was thinking of getting one of them cos the cost is much less without all the fancy bits you get on the others. Just wondering if the quality is the same as it looks like it is.
  4. check the video i posted, it shows you:thumbup1:
  5. yea they sway quite a bit and it takes a long time to get rid of your sea legs when you get down. The owner of the hotel was more freaked out when i was using my silky, the whole stem wobbles like if you hold up a piece of string and gently shake it and he was wanting me to come down, my groundies made him go inside and not watch
  6. Glad i have never had the misfortune to work on either of them Fire ants i can relate too though i have had many a nasty experience with them and you keep getting bitten all the day and even when you get home you still find them crawling about your clothes!
  7. thanks Ewan and dont worry about the derail i guess that was my fault to start with BUT if anyone DOES have any memorably proud working moments please feel free and i suppose i can answer any questions about the bike if needed.
  8. If i was you i would get your name out to companies first and find out if they would be willing to give you some days here and there. Its not easy being freelance and you need a good base of contacts that you know will call you often. I am freelancing and although sometimes i am working every day for a month, the month after i could have only 1 or 2 days a week. On the positive side though it is great being so free and meeting/working with different people all the time and seeing how people approach different situations in our industry and learning from it. All in all i would be happy to do this for the rest of my climbing career but if you have kids and a lot of bills hanging over your head then think long and hard about it cos nothing is guaranteed. Good Luck and stay off my patch
  9. Thats deep man, you been smoking some of natures goodness?
  10. No vids sorry. Oh well if the thread has gone off the tracks already then so be it. I will maybe try again someday and not show any new shiny bits of kit:thumbup1:
  11. I saw it in Milazzo in Sicily so i dont think it needs to worry so much about any minus temperatures.
  12. nice one i wish i thought of that! Good Luck
  13. yea its a gnomeoderma of some kind but i cant quite put my finger on it
  14. Its a robot caterpillar! it looks real slow though.
  15. Wow i am truly speachless, what a fantastic thing
  16. I have seen a few of them stuck up in trees. I dont see the point in them to be honest, i mean they are pretty boring until they set fire to something. Fire up a rocket instead i say, they at least do something and only set fire to the sky for a second or 2.
  17. here is a better picture that you can see the bike clearly:thumbup1:
  18. Its called a palm bike, very useful piece of kit and very stable platform to work from. the good thing is it doesnt damage the trunk in any way.
  19. I was interested to find out some of your proudest or most memorable moments from your work experience so thought i would start the ball rolling with this job i got while i was staying in Rome. I am proud of it because i got to do a proper job on what would otherwise have been butchered palm trees. Its not ideal to take off all the beard from a washingtonia palm as it uses it as protection from the weather but in this case, as it was in an exclusive hotel the owners didnt want any loose fronds coming down on their millionaires. Normally i have seen in these situations they will take off most of the green fronds as well leaving just a few new sprouts at the top but i was able to talk the owners out of that at least. As for being memorable well while 25 to 30 meters up a skinny palm tree swaying in the wind, as i turned round to shout down to my groundies i noticed 2 soldiers from the embassy next door using their telescopic rifle sights to get a better look at what i was doing!!! well that made the bowels turn a bit
  20. I did exactly the same once, just wish i had at least remembered my shoes:blushing: its real difficult chasing scum down the street in your bare feet:sneaky2:
