    A couple of pics from yesterdays trip around the coast of Edinburgh. 1st one is Bass rock with a huge Gannet colony and a pile of S**t and the second is the view from Cramond Island looking west to the bridges.

    Dont worry too much about the knots, you will learn them over time and you only need to learn a handful to start with. A good way to remember them is if you have a short piece of cord with you all the time and just practice tying them when you are waiting on the bus or waiting for the pasta to be ready etc. i would say probably the bowline is the most used and versatile knot to get in your head. Other than that just pay attention to the guy teaching you and you will do fine.

    Yogi said there was no crotch so it must be single stem. If it was double stem or multi i would go for your method though

    Sorry Gerrit i have to disagree with the Gingko as well as it does have very long lateral branches and does grow big! I am however in agreement with anything that has edible fruits. Why have a plant/tree in your garden that you cant eat? unless you have lots of space. As for pollarding.... grrrrrr shoot the person that suggested that

    Are you all serious? spikes and ladders? cant you guys climb? Use a throwline to get into the tree, if you cant get it where you want then you use skill to get up there but i found if you can get your rope up and round the trunk you can get up easily. Sheesh ladders and spikes you guys should be ashamed of yourselves!

    Found this beauty today looking like its just hatched so i saved it from certain chipperdom and took a few photos on the parcel shelf of my car. I then got busy and when i returned it was gone! i hope its not still in my car and decides to show its face when i am taking the wife out shopping:lol: Anyway i dont know what it is yet and decided not to bother looking it up because i know one of you lot will be happy to tell us
