With a single pantin i usually put my spare foot (left) on top of my right (one with pantin) and use both legs to push up in a footlock type style. That works well if you only have the one

I saw a video on here i think it was the boss man bullman using the same method, looks good but i think i would prefer the hand ascender as well.

:lol: thats just cruel:001_rolleyes: I have had quite a few dead tops breaking out and crashing down around me, caught the first one on my head but luckily i had my helmet on and just saw stars for a few hours. Now i am always very wary of it and look up always when felling, especially if the top is dead.

ZUBAT 330 11-Feet : Silky Saws I find they can be very useful and saves you a lot of repositioning which in turn saves you time. Everything else has already been said by others. Good on you for posting and i hope you heal quick:thumbup: Its easy to get complacent and think you will be ok when doing stuff that seems easy. 1 slip is all it takes and things can quickly turn from easy to deadly:thumbdown:. If you think about it, you can die falling off a kerb if your unlucky so falling at all is not good and you should ALWAYS be tied in no matter what. Take it easy guys n gals and remember its not worth taking the chance because your luck will run out one day.

I am reasonably new to the forum as well and cant keep my mouth shut half the time I think part of the problem is a lot of the threads have done the rounds several times already so some of the longer standing members are probably fed up answering the same question over and over. I have noticed in my time here a lot of the same types of threads being started more than a few times. Most members imo just use the site as a means of gaining knowledge from other threads, which is a good thing but i suppose a lot of people (maybe new to the industry) are put off of posting for fear of being shot down in flames for saying something stupid, god knows i have done it a few times and ive been doing this job long enough for things to be permasore Mostly I think Arbtalk is chugging along nicely and there is always plenty people joining in the discussions although some of the more silent members could do with adding their views as well imo

Life changing they are not but making life easier they do well. I was like you, up to about a year and a half ago i was still climbing on a prussic. I often used srt to gain access to the crown however as it was a killer body thrusting up 20 meters. I now use a spiderjack and love it to bits, its expensive i know and it really took me a long time to talk myself into buying it but i dont regret it for 1 second. All the new gear has a purpose but not all of it will be for you, try to just think what parts of your climbing system can be improved and slowly bring yourself round to buying a couple new bits of kit. Micro pulleys would be a good start and changing your prussic for a vt or the likes wont break the bank but will give you a good base to begin your discovery. I have a second line that i use when i am doing stuff in the wet or trees with lots of resin etc and i tend to use this as my experimental line trying new ideas and friction hitches etc. Still have my trusted prussic on my flipline / side strop though, dont think i will ever change that.

Fantastic post Gibbon you have been blessed with an insight into this world that i am extremely jealous of. I wish it was me going to meet these people, as i have the upmost respect for all indigenous peoples around the world. Do you want the ball to go through the pinto or jam in the pinto for retrieval? if you want it to go through then i dont think there is one that small (not 100% sure) so you will need to make one yourself with a monkeys fist. I use a pinto just attached on to the small ring of my cambium saver with a karab but its the small end i.e. the ball jammer
