  1. Try Aswarby sawmill? Or Morris in Colsterworth? Both close to the border
  2. Que the "highly valuable black walnut" vid in 3...2...1.....
  3. Care to enlighten us on these truly staggering numbers? My limited knowledge of the period suggests that though there certainly was violence, one of the more remarkable things was the way the empire allowed other religions to be, and to absorb and integrate sanskrit (Hindu) knowledge.
  4. The holder tilting the pipe in one direction or the other would swing the wire. Still, I've seen it work too many times to discount it. On one of my uncles' farms there was a chap that wandered through the dairy shed. Said uncle was about to physically remove him when he said he was there as a friend of his misses. Oh, and by the way: do the cows in that spot (long time ago, cows were stalled tied on) get ill more often than others? Enough bollox!, cried my uncle and booted him out. Later that day, curiosity gnawing on his mind, he went through the medicine records and found that indeed the cows in that spot were ill about twice the average! Simple explanation for that, he thought: when they built the cow shed they must've created a draft just there or such. Never mind, a new shed is being built in spring. New shed built, different housing system, doors in different places, cows sick in the same spot! I know a few more like that that are just too much to be coincidence.
  5. But a moral compass, right or wrong, good or bad are learned behaviour. As an infant, right or wrong has no meaning, until you are taught by those that raise you the concept of right or wrong simply doesn't exist. So how is it wrong for people to teach this right or wrong distinction by weaving it into a story? It helps people makes sense of the world. Paganism is a religion btw...
  6. In your opinion... I was raised in a christian family, decided it wasn't for me. Both my grandparents were happy to go join god at the end of their lives, there was no fear of death, no sadness, just joy that they could be with god and in the case of my grandmother (who died second) the knowledge that she'd be reunited with her husband. I use the terms "knowledge" as there was not a shred of doubt, this gave them both comfort and peace. There are also other ways of finding it, but why bash the ways that works for them? The zeal of some atheists on here and elsewhere in the real world is on par with the worst of the religious zealots in my opinion, and would suggest they are far less convinced of their own argument than they'd like to acknowledge (or possibly even know themselves?) There's just no need for such imho.
  7. I have tried, and failed
  8. My brother can do it. He doesn't believe in dowsing, doesn't like it, and doesn't understand it, but he can do it. Just a pair of bent wires and he'll find waterpipes, drainpipes etc
  9. In europe, more than 8000 muslims were killed in the Srebrenica massacre. They were murdered for being muslims, by "people" calling themselves "christians" No viewpoint is ever wrong, it's probably different from yours but not wrong. Just because it may seem wrong to you doesn't make it so. As an aside, why are you here? Why do you choose arbtalk to rant? Isnt there a white supremacist forum you'd prefer? I've not read through all y'r posts (I've an actual life, such reading would be tedious as can be) but do you actually contribute anything? (I don't consider your ranting here a contribution btw) This is a forum for tree-minded folk I thought?
  10. Could you make a fixed point to grab when the grab onto moving? That way the hiab would still need to be able to turn, but if you could grab on right above the pivot point I think you'd be OK with only needing movement in the grab itself? If you could make that grab rest attached to the rear end you'd need no provision for movement at all. It could also help to rigidificate the driver protection structure. See attached CAD design: (coffee aided drawing)
  11. They look great! Are you not worried about drooping without a diagonal brace though?
  12. Yeah, I though Mr artois may have clouded y'r reading glasses [emoji14]
  13. In my house the rule has always been this: Whatever the complaint is about being unfair goes straight to the charity shop, no exceptions. "It's not fair" is not a term used often by my kids...
  14. If I read this correctly, it says this: IT'S NOT FAIR! I have been told of by the teacher for being naughty, but there's other kids that were just as naughty and they've not been told off! The teacher is a bumhead! IT'S NOT FAIR!
  15. This. Though the way in which "the final battle" happened is what I meant to describe as vile and despicable in my earlier post. The lynch mob mentality is a scary beast once unleashed (as shown several times, "any Christians on arbtalk" "any Muslims on arbtalk" and several sections of the brexit and trump threads being evidence of such, the Christian thread in particular left me quite shocked about how seemingly normal folk can behave) Jon is a good chap, he was acting like a knob though and it seemed he couldn't see this himself. When he was gently made aware of the unsuitability of his behaviour he still didn't, which wasn't helped by the fact a number of people told him all was fine and dandy and other users should just stop moaning. I think this as much as his own posting compulsion lead to the battle at Big Butt Coral...
  16. I built this on my own, all joints with chainsaws only.
  17. How so?
  18. Yes. The spark arrestor restricts flow, especially when it gets blocked with soot and other carbon build up. In our climes there's not really a fire hazard problem from the occasional spark that may come out.
  19. It really is as simple as taking the exhaust off, drilling some holes and sticking it back on. I presume the spark mesh is off the saw already? If not, start there (says how in the manual but it's just one screw iirc) Not much to go wrong really. If you start with just three 8mm holes through the baffle, stick it back on, use it a while, then evaluate whether you think it's better or not? Then drill a few more, or not.
  20. Oooh, now available in vile vomit green! +1 on the msa muffs, I don't think there's a reason to use anything other than the highest snr rating available? And yes, you can fit a visor straight to the msa muff brackets.[emoji106]
  21. The chain makes a lot of the noise.
  22. Sorry, valid question. I just really enjoy using that occasionally.

  24. Electric chainsaws are not quiet! The small battery ones tend to be quite than the equivalent petrol engine though. If you use a mains electric one, you'll make a lot less noise than a decent petrol saw. It's also silent as soon as you stop (as not idling) has instant oomph, and tend to be fairly reliable. I think people of a certain persuasion are attracted to the two stroke sound, (probably something to do with pregnant mums smoking, so craving the smoke of two stroke? Genetics, or the devil reincarnated amongst us) so you'll be fine with electrickery!
