  1. Had a quick look at their family tree, quite an imposing bunch! Do the current owners have a fairly high public profile, like seemingly at least every male forefather for the past few hundred years? If so, perhaps the most effective way of taking action would be to ask a local newspaper to have a look, perhaps together with a local "enthousiast expert". There must be a few IVN groups or similar? It would bring their actions to the foreground without there being anyone in particular "pointing the finger" or haunting them. (that's the job for the local/regional newspaper, they love that sort of thing).
  2. I suppose if he'd already spent his money on biscuits... Is it private property, or in a trust or Natuurmonumenten o.i.d.?
  3. Step 1, denial.
  4. I suppose it takes a lot of firewood to heat a castle...
  5. +1:thumbup1: I'm not quite sure why they're not. In the rest of most of Europe, trailers over 750kg need their own registration, wich means type approval at least. You can register a homebuilt trailer, but you'll need all the relevant manufacturer's data regarding the component's you've used regarding axle load, brake efficiency, hitch load etc. There is no option of bodging one together from scrap parts and getting it tested, no matter how good it is! Seems like we're heading that way soon though...
  6. You're going to have to give a bit more info really, soil type? is it a seperate fenced 1acre field or a part of a bigger one? What is the surrounding land used for can be a reasonable indication of production capabilities and thus price. Are there many "horsey ....ers" about the area? (not people who use horses, but the annoying sort, with the shiny black Range Rover that will never see mud and the £13k horse trailer) as they can drive the price of such parcels up quite a bit. You could also try and find out what land has been sold for in the area as it's all supposedly public records.
  7. Best not to mix them, but a quick clean-water flush is plenty clean enough. The red (is it OAT? ) should keep it's properties for longer, thus prolonging the service interval, it's also supposed to be easier on mixed-metal systems by somehow preventing one metal acting as a cathode (or anode? can't quite remember. One metal "sacrificially" rusting superfast to "save" another).
  8. Surely they should be the same as a good accountant, ie: they should make you money, not cost any. In a past live I employed one once, but I made a deal with them before. I let him look through all my figures, then made him decide wether or not he could make me make more money. He reckoned he could so we agreed on €200/day, half at date of invoice, the other half after results could be proven. He worked hard, the boy did and got paid his full price. Sometimes it needs a look from a different angle to see opportunities or just as importantly: where you loose money unnessecary.
  9. I was hoping to source some in Germany as I'll be over that way towards the end of the month, no such luck though. So... Over to you mr Jones:thumbup: The manufactor claims one should be able to plant 3 to 5 thousand trees a day with one of these. Just the thought of 3000 trees per day makes me tired:blushing: If it were true though, you should recover the cost of one of these in less than a day's work at the normal rate. As these have been around for quite some time apparently I wondered why they are not for sale anywhere in the UK? Are they just not that suitable for UK conditions, or do the Swedes tend to use mainly all plugs, or what?
  10. Firefox on macbook here, no issues at all.
  11. I'm putting a stockfence in at the moment (and for a while yet, everything by hand) I got 3-4" cleft, nice and chunky and less splitting. I got 250 for £1.25 ech, no vat. I had to sort out collection/delivery myself though and had the supplier put them on 3 pallets and got pallet-line to move them.
  12. My verdict would be that you're a cheeky so-so! I just asked that same question before!
  13. If I got some imported, would anyone be interested, at say £99.- a piece? Just a thought, as I go to the civilised world (mainland Europe) a fair few times a year, so may be able to bring some back. I think they may not be that suitable for myself though, as we're on very heavy clay so to be able to just push the thing in the ground would be quite an achievement, let alone spread it's jaws. It would probably work, but after a lot of rain perhaps.
  14. Congrats mate, Angus is a cool name as well! And well done to your Mrs, that's a good effort made in good time.
  15. God only knows why I went out to look, but both are 97dB.
  16. Would you employ someone that called themselves a "risky devil"?
  17. My wife IS the dishwasher, so no chance of that happening here either!
  18. Hi all, I recently got shown one of these, and I want one! It's a tree-planting tube gadget thing, Finnish apparently (had to be with a name like that!). But I've never seen one in the UK before and also only used it for a few holes. Does anyone have experience with these? All I've found on 'tinterweb is raving reviews but has anyone on here used one? And perhaps as important, is there a UK supplier or importer or maker of these things? a pic.. Thanks, Daniel
  19. You'll have to excuse my earlier ignorant remark then. Would all this mean it would be better to do slot-planting with a fork rather than a spade in heavy clay soils? And if so, are there "tree-plantig forks" available, as no garden/digging fork I've ever come across would survive more than 100 trees on my soil?
  20. :ohmy:WOW!
  21. Depends on the size really. If less than 2 spades² then square for easy of digging, if more than that" round, for ease of digging:biggrin: But really, option3:lol:
  22. Looks like someone opened up a can of worms to me...
  23. Have you not got the search function on your 'puter?
  24. Just had a look at mine, it has 3 screws. H and LA through the plastic cover, the L screw is through the handle, just beside the av mount. Could it be that you just did not see the L, as it's a bit hidden?
