  1. Brings back memories of when I use to pull trees for my old boss with a Bedford RL.
  2. If you use a heavy enough cable just the weight once pulled up will pull a tree over with out pulling. Remember on some big horse chests put a winch rope up and went to pull up and the cable didn't even got off the ground and the tree came over by It's roots.
  3. That's right. You need a lot of ballast on tractor when pulling trees, or redirect with pulley to eliminate steep pull up on tractor.
  4. Got a 20mmx50m Polysteel bull rope I bought a year ago used it on 10 biggish sycamores the other month all where leaning back over garage block. Redirected with a pulley do to no room for tractor on trees came over. You can allways hold with tirfor or similar to stop them going back and pull with tractor. Shorten rope with bowlen.

  6. You will get there in the end. Look at what you leaving not what your taking, Have a good idear how the tree will look when finished before starting, and a have a good growndy.

  11. Was on a site years ago were Rustkins where moving trees, I had the job of guy roping them with my old boss who got the job. The weather was bad rain most of the time.
  12. I had a problem with a second hand timberwolf 150 but that was a idiot of a mechanic at Ben Burgess not doing near side wheel bolts up.
  13. The clutch roller bearing only comes in to play when saw is idoling so it dos't need much lube. Only ever had 1 clog up when milling with fine dust.

  16. It all ways amazes me how far crane company's run. Was working along side A12 last week cranes travaling up and down probably just a few pounds in the quotes.

  18. Ring council ask them out right about tree, if there fine about tree coming down no problem. If they say no It's not your problem and ring next customer. Leave it to owner and other party's to sort out and then give you a ring.

  23. Webbing sling when anchoring, heavy duty chain when It's a root keeps a better hold. Got my web slings from machine mart, yellow and wide. If you need a lot try Agri-link...shackles army surrpless is the best bet .
  24. Some more info; Fungus is only on South East side, Have found out that a root barrier was put in between tree and house 3 years ago be insurance company. Root investigation on South East side would be a problem as wall and road close so air spade no good would need JCB.
