  1. Was the van turning right? Regardless of what happened the bloke on the motorbike wants to go of and re-revise how to ride a bike safely!!!! Who overtakes on the inside of someone? What a dick. The incident is 6 of one and half a dozen of the other in my eyes, crap TM poor communication the rest was the cyclist being........well a cyclist, concentrating on other things instead of the road!
  2. Nice one jake, Best of luck to you buddy! It's a hard world out there even more so in this industry with so many young lads/girls getting into college doing what your doing its going to be hard getting work, stick with it keep trying and something will come along! Welcome to the forum to mate Adam
  3. Little help with hollow braid! Please lads When making an eye to eye hitch how long should I have my bury? Obviously I can't do it to short, but at the same time I don't want it to long for it to clump up the hitch? Is there a set safety size? Thanks in advance Adam

  15. Thanks Andy, Obviously I can't travel the country just for one day so thank you Andy for pointing that out:thumbup1: My single date rate will take me around trip of a 50 mile radius. For the rest of the UK would have to be 2 or more days work, I understand that there maybe a better solution than getting someone in from afar this is why I'm sticking the feelers out to see what work would be available to the traveling arborist!
  16. Very nice Nigel, good price too mate:thumbup:

  19. Cheers tommy, with a bit of luck it may work! Some more work, Removing deadwood and a couple of big hangers from an old Atlas cedar Lombardy poplar dismantle and some light rigging in -7 temperatures ok not cold for some but it still froze the ropes up Old conifer hedge removal Medium sized willow, spec was to reduce 2 limbs over road that were being hit by lorries and double decker buses, they had been left by a previous reduction for some reason, but brought in by about 6m then a 15% thin or there abouts Storm damaged conifer, had to be extra carefull as the other side of the fence was big air conditioning units for a TESCO store. I anchored into the skinny ash next to the conifer and rigged it down of the conifer itself, then removed the ash!
  20. Hi all, Just putting some feelers out there as this last couple of years has got me a little recognition and with a big thanks to Arbtalk, and Steve Bullman, I've been able to share my work my views and opinions also I've been able to teach a few others some basic techniques in rigging and climbing. I believe I'm a hard worker, good climber and have the knowledge and experience you would require to get any Arb related work completed, not just climbing I'm willing to do what it takes to get the job done, brash dragging, chipping, raking, lugging timber, and also equipment maintenance and repairs. I've been in the Arb trade now for 15 years and have tickets CS 30/31/32 CS38/39 CS40/41 chipper operator, 26m MEWP ticket and full UK drivers licence, unfortunately its not pre 97. I've been self employed now for 4 years, working for a few local firms and contractors, I've also had the pleasure of working/climbing with some great guys/girls in and outside work. I know I've posted most of these before but I'll post them here again just to show how I work and some stuff I've done, also I will use this thread to add more jobs i will carry out, be it pictures or videos. I have all the essential climbing, rigging gear and also small medium to large saws for any job, Thanks for reading, if your interested in hiring me please post here or give me a PM or better still call me for a chat on 07960282489 Oak tree:- minor work, 1.5/2m reduction over house, balance and thin by 20% remove dead wood, (before) (After) Birch reduction by 3m twin stemmed from the base, reduction works were carried out to help reduce the risk of storm damage or summer limb drop. After reduction Crane work from a couple years ago, I've 12 crane take downs under my belt now, and becoming quite competent at them, Sycamore reduction buy 1.5/2m all round, not quite sure on why this spec was given! After reduction Bit of MEWP work on a beech takedown with kretzschmaria killing the tree MEWP dismantle was by far the safest option. Couple of rigging photos from various jobs Using a separate rigging line as a false anchor point Bit of tedious rigging over a few BT lines I'll sort a few more out and also get a couple if old videos up to.
  21. Nice use of the rigging hub there Ian, where's the wrench?
  22. Very well spoken man, his how the universe works program was amazing and set out in such an easy learning way even a 10 year old could understand, never fell asleep watching his shows, think your all just showing your ages now and its time to be tucked in by 8:30
