SRTWP means Single Rope Technique Work Position It's an abbreviated term we use to describe someone that works the tree from a single line Hope this helps mate:thumbup1:

There are no difference in technique! only ones abbreviated to access the tree only (SRT) the other is abbreviated to access and work position (SRTWP) Adam

They've been on sale on the Internet for over 2 years now mate, there all just teasing trailer ads, you may be able to reserve one but I don't think a price has even been mentioned yet???

Srt can be seen as access Into trees where as SRTWP is single rope technique work position means you work the tree on a single line, this thread is a Srt reference only Ddrt has no part here nether does it have a part in my work climbs, since I started working Srt I've only used Ddrt once when I forgot my wrench and other times to retrieve my top tie in point.

Yeah when retrieving rope on rope it's hard to retrieve through more than one redirect as the rope on rope causes a lot of friction, Ian flatters showed me a cool trick with just a aluminium ring, just put your line through the ring and around desired anchor point then tie direct to the ring leave a long tale to what ever length you require or add a second rope or throw line to retrieve, the ring takes a lot of the friction away making retrieval real smooth Hope this helps mate

absolutely great post mate:thumbup1: but we have just evolutionised the way we climb in srt reducing the amount of upper body strength we utilize, surely we cant be getting to soft to let a bit of good old slack tending put us of ???? for me its an open book and im all for trying new techniques so im all eyes and ears, i just feel to much of a sudden change is not good, although change is what helps the world spin

Just a curiosity poll really:001_smile: could you please also give any informative information to the systems you have used and your veiws! whats your poison then? how long have you been climbing in the world of SRT? what has it proved to you about working SRT? Have you noticed any changes in your climbing style? have you noticed in physical changes to your body? thanks Adam

its something that only a hand full of people can answer at this given time mate as the t540 is not available on sale yet, there are however a few people that have them on demo from husky them selfs but still a release date has not been confirmed. the 201 on the other had has had plenty of time to get some rating.... good or bad IMHO i dont rate it one bit but im sure there plenty out there that do..... its a tuff one to say for sure without having worked with the husky.....

Sorry mate but I wasn't missing your point at all, the fact that even the slightest bit of friction is added with these 2 devises through lack of pulley is erelevant, what I'm simply saying is there's more friction in a hitch and pulley when the hitch is either been dressed and set to tightly causing it to bite there for regardless of the setup having a pulley the friction is coming from the hitch, its personnel preference in what your saying Ie: 2 different people tending slack in different ways! When I used the uni it tended slack just as easy and smooth as a well set hitch and pulley combo, for the reson being once all the gates on the uni close the rope is completely free and the only friction would be to come from the straight edges of the uni plates, having not used a HH yet I can't really comment but I bet my bottom dolla the friction is no more than my rope wrench setup on a hitch and hitchclimber pulley, in the HH thread yesterday I asked if anyone had tried or if it would be possible to add a dmm pinto spacer it reduce this small amount of added slack tending friction but after reading all this I'm not sure if it would warrant even adding one as I can see now the friction is only going to come from the hitch its self whilst slack tending on a limb walk, I see the way you do it coming in handy but its about doing things what feels natural to you.

There's no ergonomic difference between slack tending from a limb walk Ddrt or Srt, the fact that every other device uses a pulley (except the uni and hitchhiker) is infact the only difference, using a pulley is automatically going to feel smoother as there is hardly any friction if any, using a device such as the uni and HH which had no pulley just adds that little more friction coming from the straight edges of the uni and the bina on the HH, there for requiring a little more effort to tend slack. I really don't see an issue with this having briefly spent a few minutes on Dan Curtis unicender and playing with the slack tending on the floor I felt no extra effort doing it with say a hitch that had tightened up and regardless of a pulley being there or not still required more energy to tend the slack.

Shows mainly but if they have it in then landmark trading but there a little more expensive than some of the guys on here mate

Do yourself a favour mate buy a new one at least you can verify 1000% of its history, buying second hand climbing gear is never a good idea IMO, plus if you buy new you can get one you will be comfy in You know it makes sense
