  5. yeah looks a nightmare doesn't it, just had to sever the ivy at the base no doubt they will get me back in the remove it once it starts dropping all over there lawn:thumbup: weather was good real cold though think it was about -4 that day.
  6. I was working in a local manor park about 8 years ago removing dead wood from on old chestnut about 3 maybe 4 trees away was a twinned stemmed sycamore there had been no rain fall and no wind it was mid summer and one limb had just collapsed while we were having dinner. the owners first thought we had done it:confused1: but then realised what had happened, we call this a summer limb drop were i come from, very rare but caused from previous high winds weakening the structure of the two limbs, then as summer comes and the tree is in full foliage it can not take the weight, pretty amazing to see lucky we parked under a different tree for lunch:blushing:
  7. Sorry a took it down but that was not my decision, just doing my job, as for the species, there a many sub-species of black poplar maybe it is a canadensis or even a cultivar never the less its been classed as a sub-speicies of black poplar, i'm not going to question the consultant about what true species it is or why he had put it down as a black poplar but i was just adding some photos for you all to share not to get in a debate about the dam thing:sneaky2:
  8. i work for my self testcricketo1 but this was a sub-contracting job for a firm in wisbeach and yes sam i'll have plenty of work for you to do soon mate. just to clarify it was a black poplar originally thought to be a balsam poplar but arb report says populus nigra one of the last in wisbeach apparently .

  16. I've always climbed on one line unless i'm cable bracing, 2 lines worked with the hitcher climber is so easy moving from limb to limb but i'm like the rest of the guys if you been told to,then you got to do it, if you feel the need then do it, its all personnel preference and being safe. a safe climber always wears stockings and suspenders.... as for 2 lines being dangerous NO don't see how that's possible.
