  1. Need to organise another weekend expedition The lime I took Dan to see in the afternoon, should be a good one, possibly 110ft or there abouts. The swamp cypress at the same site as the turkey oak! Looks an impressive tree for the given species in this area. And a special treat I'll post up pictures in a little while
  2. The turkey oak, looking forward to climbing this one, a height of 22.76m done by my Clinometer app on the iPhone, and as we fount out on the beech it's surprisingly accurate the spread we measured at 27.50m again the diameter was 4' but as you can tell from the pictures it's far larger around the bowl measuring 7' at the narrowest part of its face, as I write this I have just had a phone call from a friend telling me of another oak! Not sure of the species but apparently it has a 6' diameter base?.. And is over 100'....we will see. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  3. Sorry for the delay I'll post the rest of the photos and specs from Saturday in a little bit,
  4. Nice one matey congrats to you both You'll love it mate its the best thing ever, well apart from climbing
  5. Yeah sorry about the confusion, its nothing to do with the ascent or anything like that its just in my head, I'll figure it out:thumbup1: Anyway changed my style today, made a 12" stiffy, the mrs loves it , na had it on the hitchclimber pulley to start with but the offset really bugged me, so had another spare pinto pulley kicking around and gave it a shot! Looks the part but if it works is a different matter
  6. Just to throw another suggestion in there! How about lilac?
  7. Ok now for the question mark? Lol could this be a champion not only could it be of uk but possibly the world?... We think, this maybe the biggest living privet well certainly the biggest I've ever seen, still not 100% sure so can't claim nothing yet, open to suggestions though, 14m approx will go back to measure once or if we can positively ID Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  8. Haha I know, it's funny really when you get to climb or even see a living breathing giant like that how small things you thought to be big really are not:thumbup1:
  9. Just the beech mate, but went to see a few from the floor over the day:thumbup1:
  10. That I have mate The last one is Dan and Andy measuring the spread you can see the limb has been covered in ivy after touching the floor, it was like a giant hand rising from the grave Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  11. I'll let Dan have the glory with the most majestic beech I've come across, truly amazing but here's a few others from today. This chestnut was supposedly the widest spread in Europe, we measured it at 30.6m but not entirely sure for the widest spread in Europe?. The height was 20.96m again not the tallest by no means, it's had quite some extensive reduction work done in the past so possibly a little shy of its original height and spread, not sure on the girth but I'm sure Dan has that info. There was also a plaque next to the tree but maybe some issues with that, I'll let Dan talk you through that one as I think he has the photo to it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  12. Ok just a few pictures first then we'll get down to the gems thread, Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

  17. All pro's and no cons I can't fault them want bit, well engineered great engine turntable is fabulous, chips knarly stuff on its own with out having to back forward with the controls, and the neatest compact traveling chipper around. For a sub 750kg 6" chipper 10/10
