  1. I'm happy lugging my crappy husky 576xp saw around with its 24" bar, isn't as if I really like it or anything infact I like it a lot
  2. Try Michael Hawkins ,07765123412. He's just out oxford on the a40
  3. I wear the profell, best boots I've ever own, stiffer than hoax boots I've had before ,but these boots just don't seem to be wearing out half as quick!
  4. Judging from your response I got a good bargain thanks for the replies folk
  5. Hi all, i'm getting very interested in milling timber ,and hope to have a setup bought and in use later this year.In fact I bought a stihl 070 with a new 36" bar and chain earlier today for a respectable £90 ,and I'm planning on milling with this So really I'm just enquiring to wether anyone here does any chainsaw milling locally? And if you do ,would you mind me tagging along for a day to watch and take notes? I'm not looking for payment, just knowledge Many thanks, steve
  6. Personally,I would suggest repollard, but more correctly ! Fewer knuckle that are easier to maintain . "Pollards" like the previous one are just done by cowboys
  7. I have a nice scar on my left arm from slipping whilst cutting with my silky.its 2+ inches and went deep enough to expose the artery, fortunately I didn't cut through it! Wasn't cool, been extra safe since . I also remember a tree surgeon from Northamptonshire on bizarre e.r no tv ,he cut through tendons and veins in his wrist with a silky ! That was gory!
  8. Heyday, During the " running in phase " , did you find your saw playing up ,say stalling occasionly? I put aspen in my 576AT this week,on the second tank now and it still stalls occasionally when I come of the throttle and put the saw down briefly. Cheers,Steve
  9. I'll keep it in mind,I'll possibly be in touch in the new year
  10. Good stuff, tempting to get my saw tweaked, what's the turn around say? Not taking into accountant the festive season . Steve
  11. This is exactly what I'm aiming for ,all amazing saws
  12. I've been climbing nearly 12 months on my spider jack, soon to start using a second clutch ( 10 months isn't too bad if I'm honest lol) ,and I think it's been a huge leap in my climbing ! When you get to a height where the rope self tends, climbing seems to become fluid ,and quicker . My only gripe is the Velcro on my spider jack, though I've got a new rope to climb on hopefully next week ( tachyon teufelburger )with a new clutch and a dyneema kit ,so this won't be a issue from now on . I know it's a lot of money ,but hey ,you only live once, buy one
  13. Just how long had the climber been using this million ? Must be several years surely
  14. Ill give you £50 right now for it:001_tt2:
  15. This is exactly what I would do! And buy a husky 550
  16. I have a pair of them trousers, they are fairly heavy but they are holding up well,on rip on mine is where I caug my silky:blushing: ,apart from that perfect!
  17. I think to myself " it's all goin to be ok, a little further out now, well keep going till there's a cracking noise then just cut it about here" haha
  18. I buy a few silky tshirt from shows that I go too, there the best £3 I spend to be honest , last ages and I don't have issues about slogans or anything as almost everyone uses silky saws lol. As for jumpers I buy fleeces from go outdoors, there £4/5 each . And recently bought a hivis yellow cycling jacket with reflective strips from Aldi, £20 , so far it's holding up well, it's a tight fit and doesn't have a good to get snagged up, plus it's breathable . Steve
  19. I recommend the husqvarna 576xp autotune , mine runs with a 24" bar with a full chisel chain, and it loves big stuff, lots of torque to pull the bar too ! If I needed a larger saw if personally go for a husky 395 over the ms660, I used both machines with the same size bar within 2mins of each other on the same stem I was ringing up, and I found the husky faster cutting and slightly more economical on fuel . Steve
  20. Try the husky 560xp, it's awesome!
  21. When working next week,if you see Richard ,ask to see the setup for the hitch climber where he can pull from beneath .or buy a spider jack
  22. Dependant on area, your quality of work, experience and on who your working for,I would say £80-120 on the ground £115-175 climbing. Steve
  23. I have heard if several ladies undergarments being found by some lads I work with, and also some German poo porn ! As well as a bomb whilst stump grinding and a shotgun inside a stem whilst ringing up
