  1. My mileage varies greatly, some weeks 30 at the most, others 500+ , and the there's driving any work trucks if needed, all I seem to do is drive sometimes
  2. good luck with finding som,e work experiance, having a licences including 7.5t is a good start, especially if you have a twing licence for that .i recommend phoning up as many companys withing 50miles of your home, the industry is always busy this time of year so search far and wide and you'll find a job soon i hope
  3. Always agree type and when payment will be received before the job. ask to see planning consent before the job gets started, you don't want to get it in the neck from a tree officer do you . Try to have numerous companies to work for,I made the mistake of keeping all my eggs in one basket ,not good when I fell out with that company. Let your climbing to the talking, even if your a great climber and want to tell the world .when I speak to potential new people to work for I make it clear I'm not anything amazing ,but I do the job right . These are my view, hopefully they make sense. Steve

  7. With the imori being a soft feeling rope ,I found firmer friction cord better, like ocean polyester or armour plus pretty nice,I think there available from honey brothers
  8. Many good point made in the thread,my top tip that I say when I help someone else to reduce are...... 1.Try to give the tree a nice rounded top 2.Work from the top down 3.Leave as many growth points along a branch ,you never know if the customer will want more of ! 4.Try to have a nice descending growthpoint, not to small in comparison to the pruning cut 5.Don't prune any part of the tree so it looks like a pollard knuckle,if they wanted a pollard they would have said! Don't forget, not all trees reduce as nicely ,a maple I find never reduces as well as say birch,so don't worry if its not perfection, just do your best
