  1. Cool project. Keep us updated.
  2. Don’t you believe it.
  3. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ongoing_armed_conflicts https://www.thenewhumanitarian.org/maps-and-graphics/2017/04/04/updated-mapped-world-war
  4. Burn it harder. Fires come on cam so to speak.
  5. Excellent. I trust performing as hoped? I saw it when you made the conversion and thought it was a neat solution.
  6. I’ve got a front-and-top loader, a Vermont Intrepid. Not as efficient as a modern stove but the top loading works fine and doesn’t leak smoke into the room.
  7. That was what I thought of.
  8. Yeah. It's all relative though. When there was a financial wobble a few years ago (three ish maybe but my perception of time is poor), people quickly land banked and all the small, £1-4m, 1000-5000 acre estates disappeared from sale in weeks. They were fabulous properties. £350-£500 an acre with some developed bits chucked in for free, like a castle, three farms, four big houses, twenty workers' cottages, six running businesses etc.
  9. Your appraisal (as well as being piss funny) is bob on. It's the same with the north of England. I looked at a characterful rural property in the North Pennines the other day. It can be bloody bleak there. I had a chat with the couple viewing after me. They're leaving St Albans, "for a change of scenery." Well **************** off to Rickmansworth then. They'll stay for five minutes and then decide they prefer Pret a Manger and pollution. They'll also do a number on the property prices that will make the Weimar Republic look pedestrian. I'm going to have to go to Scotland to get ahead of them for five minutes. I am arguably a hypocrite and part of the problem of course. I'm from Suffolk. But I have lived up north for 8 of my 34 years and been a regular visitor for 23 of them. I do fit in as well. I have a few quite local characteristics.
  10. Does anyone remember Sunnyside Farm on TV in the late nineties?
  11. That only works with the accent.
  12. That's just made me realise that it's Alain de Botton who does the School of Life video narration.
  13. Those training places enrage me. There's one I pass walking to the motor factor up the hill from me. First impulse was to burn it down. I then paused and realised the operators need locking in it first. And do they **************** charge £150.
  14. Like Bolam says.
  15. They might be selling them for that or they might be advertising them for that.
  16. Don’t recall what the time is/was but I do recall them starting on the bloody dot the times I’ve been in residence. Very consistent. Clearly a rule of some kind in force. 07:30 if I had to guess.

    Arthritis

The hospital probably just don’t want everything tinged yellow.
  18. I love a zero fret for those reasons. Don't know why there aren't more about.

    What are these?

    Much obliged.

    What are these?

For bonus points, species ID? Looked like a fairly ordinary suburban spec conifer but with quite papery bark.
  21. I don't have enough milling experience to say you're right or wrong there but I completely concur on crosscutting. I was cutting 2.5x bar length with a 36"/90cm the other day. Tooth lengths all over the place but depth gauges done well. Cut fine, steered well, ended up totally flat enough.
  22. Simple but brilliant. Make them better than Stihl and take over the world.

    It died

    For arriving fit but late.

    It died

Still on the subject of old/cheap ones, how are the mini lorries for getting through MOTs for things like rust? Panel vans can be bad for corrosion within 30 cm of a prescribed area.
