  1. I’m guessing, but are you the captain of the your local quiz team?
  2. Interesting. I never burn overnight for that reason, but it's ok to pretty much close down completely when it's just the coals?
  3. What's the company in Watford called? Thanks
  4. In the early days I always assumed someone had been helping themselves to my firewood, but I now know the reason. I find the shrinkage is very noticeable in this weather especially in a large pile of wood.
  5. Some really nice conversions on their site. I'm always tempted to convert my hilux but the cost of converting out ways the value of the truck so I'm always a bit put off.
  6. Lovely looking wood there, big old lumps. This year I've probably halved the size of yours as I got a few complaints about the size. It seems stoves are getting smaller and smaller!
  7. I'm going back to the site in a few weeks so will get a better pic.
  8. It’s only in the UK that we are so bloody fussy about firewood. We all know that dry is all you need for good heat. “ oh my god, is that a willow log in my delivery” reminds me of the catherine Tate “ oh my god kids it’s not organic, RUN”
  9. Agreed, but i was just curious of the real time difference in the burn times. So if oak burns for 45 minutes, does pop burn for 35..... Meaning over the course of a 3 hour evening burn the difference is one extra refil for example. No big deal in reality. I think too much emphasis is put on the poshness of hardwoods!
  10. Can't believe how well the woods drying this year. Reckon I'll split right into August and still be able to sell in the new year. Woods been down a good while anyway.
  11. Would be interested to know the real time difference in burn time between different hard woods( in a modern stove) Sure, oak and euc etc will burn the longest but I bet in the real world it’s not going to to make such a big impact difference. A bit like super unleaded v unleaded in your sons first car.
  12. I quite like the stuff, burns well, gives off good heat. What's not to like!
  13. Poplar is hardwood
  14. Interesting. What do you sell a cube for?
  15. £110 plus vat for 1.5 cube loose. Unless you're selling at very high prices I can't see any profit in that.
  16. Looks very neat. So is that a heated shed or a kiln? If it's a heated shed how do you heat it. Thanks
  17. Still cheap in my opinion. Back of a single cab hilux is 1.2 cube less the wheel arches, so put a little mound on it to impress the customer and it's got to be close to 1.3
  18. I thought larch, sorry about the photo
  19. I know it’s a conny but not sure which one. Customer wants more of them planted. Thanks.
  20. Anyway, I never understood the purpose of a stove/flue thermostat, if the owner/operator cannot judge whether timber is wet or dry, or whether the fire is burning hotly/happily and correctly, the owner/operator should not be running a wood burning appliance my point exactly ?
  21. Because most people place the thermometer on the flu pipe. Modern stoves are designed to combust all volatiles in the stove box therefore reducing the temperature of the emitting gases. Sure some Chinese gear will be shoddy, but baffle plates etc are not designed for over heating. Easily done in the wrong hands. Burn hot and steady, but absolutely do not rely on a £10 " stove accessory" to tell you if you are burning correctly.
  22. Looks like it would make a great workshop stove, too hot for my little house!
  23. But probably best to ask a stove retailer as they know everything.
  24. Burley for one will not validate a warranty issue if the thermometer is placed on the flu
  25. Some stove manufacturers won't validate a warranty if the customer uses a stove thermometer. I certainly don't use one as they massively increase the risk of over heating. Clear glass and flame pattern is all you need to judge a good fire.
