  4. coalbrookdale severn no probbs keeping it going forever lol i let the firebars clog up at end of a nights burn and top up with a full load of logs and shut all vents and fire still half full with logs why dont you try a layer of damp wood/logs on top to slow your burn down so to speak it shoul run all night

HELLO JUST LIKE TO REVIVE THIS POST PLEASE i have just got use of a plot of land to use for wood storage etc for my logburner and trailer storage and there is a patch of kott weed at the moment its all died back as i know nothing about this stuff and its growing against the wood built stable were i want acess etc can anyone give me advice to cull slow it down growing etc as i hav,nt the moneys to pay being out of work etc after my breakdown family troubles etc and find it a good way of blowing the cobwebs out going down to the plot etc chopping firewood up for my burner & out the way of everyone i can sit and watch the birds wildlife etc as anyone got any ideas to get rid would laying house bricks over it so a i can use to park my trailers on it etc or will it just grow back etc ps kind helpfull replys only thank you

  9. hi everyone i,am after advice please on taking the pressure off this lovely nice n light ms250 i,ve been given as a gift of a good friend of mine what i,am use to using is a 038 and a ms 341 for general use and have found the ms 250 a lighter saw to use for sorting my dry seasond firewoood out etc. But a tad underpowered Its fitted with a 18" bar at the moment and i feel the saw could do with a shorter bar n chain and was thinking of going upto 3/8 chain and sprocket ?????? but shorter bar and a bit faster chain speed 1 >> will i have to replace the bar and best match for engine size etc 2>> what tooth sprocket best/better in 3/8 6 or 7 tooth ?? 3>> what chain is best for chomping through dry logs etc 4>> or am i better leaving it standard as it is and leave it well alone etc 5>> has anyone tried it and did it work out for the better just thinking out loud too lol all this gear just to burn some wood on my log burner to keep warm lol>>> trailers plot of land saws petrol all the maintainance etc but love it. The smell and poking around with the fire watching the flames etc . Oh!! and fighting with the dog i,ve now got him a rug so i can pull him out the way of the fireplace why i put more logs on then pull him back on rug lol

I GOT STUCK TOO a couple of days ago it was on the lancs a580 driving towards liverpool 2 old blokes in a merc 7.5 tonner loaded with about 5 traffic cones they wear holding everyone back driving in outside lane for hrs then turned right using no indicators at all truck had euro tree services on the side he was a right old chap with a flat cap on doing around 25/30 mph in a 60mph >>>:biggrin:a propper sunday afternoon driver

YOU ONLY NEED A SHORT PIPE IF YOUR CHIMNEY IS IN GOOD ORDER AND A REGISTER PLATE AND I WOULD ALSO CUT A HOLE TO ACT AS A SERVICE HATCH ETC JUST LEAVE A LOOSE PIECE OF STEEL PLATE OVER INSIDE OF HOLE TO KEEP IT BLOCKED OF ETC SO YOU DONT NEED TO MESS AROUND WITH DISTURBING FLUE PIPE RESEALING ETC WHEN YOU WANT TO DO ANY MAINTAINANCE sorry about the caps lads just to add i have a coalbrookdale severn 15 kw in a 25ft x 14ft room very overkill i know as i only needed a 5.5 kw but it was a recon for £400 bargain me thinks burns overnight no probs check my picture on left i cant get near for the dog lol

  18. cheers for the help 11hp petrol motor it is then". What speeds as i was thinking of the motor speeds at 1400 ish as for the petrol engine i can adjust the speed no probbs and its got a added bonus of a governer to keep the torque up so to speak or would you advise a flywheel for stored kinetic energy/power etc also as anyone got any pictures of any diy ones you done yourself etc please to give me some ideas etc
  19. after help and advice please on building my own log screw i.ve got a guy to make my log screw out of a lump of ss steel 300mmx100mm and have got e 1.5hp or 2.5hp electric motor or the chance of a 11 hp honda engine do i fit screw direct onto said motor or engine shaft or use a fan belt pully shaft flywheel set up on a steel table with motor/engine under table what worked for you or did.nt work etc ??? i await your advice please thanks lads n gals

I,ve just got a pair of soft brown leather boots for working in etc only secondhand to keep my feet warm n dry etc there called redhead bonedry thinsulate and i was thinking before i start to use them to treat with some sort of dubbing or saddle soap can anyone suggest whats best etc i will only use them as and when i start splitting all my wood up i,ve saved over this year on my plot built a wood shelter etc as wellies make my legs sweat etc when working hard walking up n down chopping wood etc thanks for any help i would be greatful for any good advice too
  24. There all the same (( naff )) if you replace the lock so to speak it will happen again just use a screwdriver to open and forget the lock bit theres nothin to nick under there anyway no even the battery lol

Hi i,am looking thinking of etc going down the path of getting a log splitter but very unsure/confused what to get etc i,ve got a raft of logs now say around 5/6 tonnes at the moment to process all undercover to dry out etc i have a lot of trouble with my shoulders after swinging around with an axe or maul i,am crippled for 3 days later with pain and can hardly pick my brew up lol i live in st helens and would love someone to help me and do a demo how to operate one and see if there worth the effort and cost etc so is there anyone local please that would be willing to show me the splitter path so to speak
