  1. Yep, better to go with a device that is designed for the purpose.
  2. I won't buy used again. I won't buy new either. Next time I'll get new stuff on finance. It works out best financially if you look at all the tax benefits. Just stick with the same brand so that you can transfer the chip box. Simple.
  3. They love it don't they! Earlier this year we completed a two day job through a carpet of dog poo and still cleared up well. The client expressed her satisfaction, then asked for a discount. This while supervising the delivery of her new Masserati! 😂
  4. So should the choice be the SMH10: SMH10 - Sena Or the SMH10R: SMH10R - Sena I wonder if the separate battery pack of the 10R could mean better weight distribution in the helmet? I also like the option of the wired microphone as it can be taped to the edge of the visor.
  5. Still coil it Paul but it'll go farther with a light weight on it.
  6. When the groundies chip up while you're up a tree, does the chipper noise come roaring through?
  7. That doesn't count cos loads of us have worked there over the years.
  8. Not today mate but I'm fed up with it and the risk of running overloaded most of the time (not that I ever do!)
  9. I'm interested in opinions from anyone who has a 7.5t new or nearly new one. I know what's good so I'm interested in what's bad. Faults, reliability, dealer service etc. Thanks.
  10. Mid Surrey Farm charges £30 a load.
  11. What doesn't shoot down the line?
  12. Yes the bars are made out of painted chocolate but that can't be responsible for the chain tension problems I've been having since day one. Surely? The chain tension can be fine for days and then suddenly becomes very tight or very loose for no apparent reason. It gets sent down for readjustment and is fine for one or ten cuts then the tension is wrong again. This can happen ten times a day, or not for ten days. It's been driving me mad. It's nothing to do with the chain, i've tried three different types. Now that the chain has jumped off and seriously damaged the saw I am really peed off. Of course I don't have a leg to stand as Husq will claim operator error.
  13. I don't know how it happened. I'm the only operator. The chain jumped off the other day and the groundie put it back on without problem. Since then the chain oil has been going everywhere except along the bar. I've finally noticed that the chain has cut the metal body into the damn oil reservoir! Anyone know how to fix this?
  14. I had gallons of beer and two pizzas yesterday. It's amazing how my body feels now, compared to yesterday!
  15. That statement is worthless unless you can give fair reasons for this unfortunate situation.
  16. Haha! That's funny Gordon and I'm sure Paul Cox will chuckle too because we all know that there's more than one way to do a redirect. However, you're point is a valid one and will defiantly appeal to some. I've always set static redirects by clove hitching my rope to the branch therefore your video technique has no advantage to me. However, in future I'm now going to be climbing on a lowerable base anchor so floating redirects are essential otherwise the system is not lowerable, therefore you're video technique becomes advantageous. I particularly like the attachment point for the chest harness thingy. PS: my Hitch Hiker has not worn out yet. Lol!
  17. Crikey! That's now looking like a real quality professional tool. I like climbing with my Hitch Hiker but love mechanicals (after years on a Lockjack) so when my HH wears out maybe......... Good job Gordon!
  18. If in doubt, get the blower out!
  19. Chris, you must have an Operators license from your Iveco 4x4 days therefore a lorry around 13-18t would be a good compliment for your chipper. If you haven't got an O license, just get one and a lorry. Simple.
  20. Not really. Work out your normal costs then double it. Add 25% then the costs of 6 new chains. Then add the cost of a weekends drinking. Add 15%. Then pray you don't get the job!
  21. Al, as you've had some for a while, are they still good? Also, are they constantly on so that you can hear everything or is it push a button to talk or something else? Ta.
  22. That's what I thought too. What I'm trying to figure out is which is the best rope to use for SRWP when tied to a base anchor. ie: low or no stretch at all because you'll get bounce/stretch from the tree and the anchor connection.
  23. Yes that's what got me thinking about it. Excellent.
  24. Thanks John Do you know of anyone using them on a Protos?
