i have 2 that saw and split pretty much all the time and both on 80 a day..

no.. they talked about that a year or so ago.. apparantly they are thinkin of makin farmers use white at normal price and nothing can be claimed back.. this is so farmers will use smaller tractors or not use them as much to stop pollution.. cant see it happenin unless they are gonna triple the price of grain

agri- contractor near me will tell you different.. gang of his blokes were muck spreading in autumn and put mud on road..had no signs up.. a woman skidded into a tree.. unfortunatly she died as a result.. he was arrested for man slaughter... think he avoided prison but is faced with around 400 grand compensation claim which insurance dont cover him for.. thing is the workers had signs to put up but as he's the boss he shoulda made sure they did it and they get off scott free..

not as much as i'd like... i've been doing firewood for over 20yrs... thats how i got into tree work.. last yr was 1st yr i've ever bought firewood in.. i bought around 300 tons in through summer and started processin in august... sold all that wood by xmas but didn't really have an idea of profit as wasn't sure how many metres i was gettin per load.. [ the300 tons was all in 1 pile]. after that i bought loads in seperatly and then could see exactly how long it took to process an artic load [26 ton].. turns out was makin around £30 per load... was doing around 15 loads a day 7 days week for month up to xmas mind and my transit holds 3 loads at time.. this year i'm still buyin it in but also collectin every bit wood [soft and hard] i can get my hands on.. reckon i got 150 ton in shed all split ready for this winter thats cost nothing except bit labour.. although most splittin is done at end of day after any tree work..

biomas is classed as normal woodchip from soft or hard wood and chips are supposed to be no bigger than 50mm... a 6-9 ninch chipper is best for that size... mines 12-14 inchs and is ok when its dead sharp but when its bit blunt it shreds it rather than chips... i personaly have never had problem with chip length..

i pay my lads from 7.30 in morning till 5 with half hour for lunch...the machine is running for that time non stop.. only thing that might speed it up for us is the guy on the digger has plenty of time to sort wood out into piles with log grab.. he puts all 6 way wedge stuff in one pile, 4 way wedge stuff in another and stuff that needs splittin in half or not at all in another.. that way they just change the wedge once every couple hours.. most of our wood is over 10 inchs so 6 way wedge is used alot which ultimatly speeds things up.. worst stuff is 6 inchs and smaller.. slows the job down...

it just gets rid of it.. thats why they pay £6 ton.. just enough to pay someone to come and load it...

i just leave cover up on mine.. mine still works... i bought mine 2nd hand so someone might of taken a sensor off somewhere..

take coveroff for a start... if logs are smaller than 6 inch hold it with your right hand as its being sawn.. once its sawn you can hold it till the ram has retracted fully and drop it in bottom.. in mean time your moving chord along with joystick ready for next one..

we have same machine and can on average process 26 tons in 2 days.. thats with 2 men.. and loadin processor with a 1 and half ton digger with timber grab.. [to be honest digger doesnt speed job up just makes life bit easier]

chips supposed to be no bigger than 50mm but mine is lot bigger normaly and they dont say anything.. had load rejected couple weeks ago cos it was too old though... any type of wood as long as its arb waste... not shredded pallets for instance..

almost as bad as when you've topped row conifers and they say can you take another 2 ft off -
i might be able to do something with all the stumps too long as theres not too much soil on them.. and can arrange haulage..

soon as they say "can you just" i say yeah no problem i'll be over to give you a quote in a min... they no there be no freebies straight away and 9 times outta 10 theyl pay.. even if its only 30 or 40 quid for couple cuts with pole saw etc.. -
if you get stuck i'll come and do it for ya for £750 as long as theres machine there to scrape back grindings...

under 25's sre nightmare.. i pay £2500 to insure an 02 plate transit thats only worth 2500-3000.. 3rd party fire and theft any driver.. [which was only 100 more than namin both drivers who are both under 25].. if i wanted any driver over 25 with me as main driver its £800..

if the moneys right we will travel anywhere... normaly work in a 50 mile radius, but have been to shrewsbury which is over a 300 mile round trip.. got to look at a job in tilbury today which is 70miles away..

yeah.. shes used to it mate.. my grandad always said behind every sucessful man is a good woman.. couldnt be truer.. most wouldnt put up with the 5.30am starts and comin home in early hours durin harvest.. as pic in avatar shows faye comes to where ever i'm workin [which could be 30 miles away] at least once a day bringin refreshments.. a flask is ok but tea doesnt taste too good after its been in there 13 or so hrs..

and still doing much to my partner's annoyance at times.. bit like today.. we're expectin another baby [little boy on aug 21st so we found out today].. had first scan at 2.00pm at local hospital.. told her i'd meet her there. [she wasnt happy] pulled up in car park in skip lorry..
