  2. trouble with hitching a double axle trailer to a quad is that the quad towball is much lower than standard ball hitch so hard to push trailer down lifting the rear wheels oh and they are great for skinning your knuckles when taking them off!!!! great with single axles though

    Rats!

when I was a teen we used to shoot them in an old piggery with an airgun and spotlight shot at one running along the rafters one night and somehow it landed on the back of my neck and dug its 4 claws in -been scared of them ever since, thank goodness never seen one since moving here 25 years ago
  14. £15 a ton to fell sned and stack that is about the same price we were getting 20 years ago for hand felling -just as processors and forwarders were coming in and cutting prices and as for steep ground there are not that many places a hill climber and fearless forwarder driver cant get to -frightening to watch them sometimes
  15. Robin Hoods girlfriend was not maid Marion as most people think - her name was Trudie Glenn its in the song, robin hood robin hood riding trudie glenn i see you all singing it!!!!
  16. have 2 eucryphia in same garden one as you can see is in full flower the other seems to be slowly dieing over the last few years there was an electric cable dug in alongside it about 4 years ago possibly damaging the roots and the ground it is very wet in winter would drainage help it recover or is it to late

  18. DAMM sitting watching one of those on the woodburner !!!!!!!!!
  19. 7 problem with most of the small petrol pumps is they need to be primed every time they run out of water whereas a submersible with a float switch can be switched on and left to its own devices
  20. very tidy wall wish, there was stone like that round here
  21. thanks guys don't think i will risk burning them until they have dried out again just posted a pic of the barn on the show us your log-store thread and you will see how high and awkward to repair the tin is very thin and not easy to put roof ladder or crawler boards onto
  22. here is my main store with leaky roof (see water wet not sap wet thread) and wee trailer that sits outside back door knocked up from an old caravan chassis and a few bits lying around lasts about 2 weeks
  23. they are sitting on pallets, still trying to persuade the owners to get it re-roofed as it has their firewood in it as well , its an old rounded roofed duch barn a bit to high and dangerous to tackle on my own so will get a tarp and put it over the worst bits meantime,
  24. I have use of a large barn in which i have split, and by now seasoned wood stored for last 2 years but due to leaks in the roof there is a fair amount which is now "water wet" as opposed to "sap wet" and i was wondering if they are both the same or will the water wet ones be less damaging to my new chimney liner
  25. clever one near us called THISTLE DUBH ( Gaelic for black and pronounced do ) said quickly "this will do"
