  1. wee digger needed a hand from the landy's winch to-day not so easy when on your own
  2. fires were other side of town from here but we got a great veiw of it from here quite spectacular - tho must have been frightening for those over that side of town, son in law is local retained fireman and was on duty for days, some houses very lucky
  3. not loch fyne but loch linnie ben nevis is just to the right of the digger in first pic , i am about 3 miles south of fort-william
  4. agree 100?% with eddie on this we had a hired in digger like yours with a kerb grab with rotator fitted the number of times you "forgot" which way the switch was and released the kerb was uncanny hire co then got a new grab that hung on like a timber grab but had it plumbed so the bucket crowd worked the grab and the pedal the rotator, again not ideal as the rotator on the pedal was to violent and to easy to drop the kerbs with just a slight movment of the crowd , at my suggestion they swapped them over and now it is ideal, can rotate with very accurate with small movment of the bucket crowd and a positive grab/release with the pedal I do envy your setup I have a 3 ton jcb with hydraulic thumb that has been the best investvent i ever made
  5. did you get the pedal/buttons all sorted out then what works the rotator and grab and do you have good control of each function
  6. I was stopped by the police last night and failed the breath test - on to police stn and gave a urine sample, as i was leaving i noticed the sample on the desk and managed to whip it into my pocket Think i will get away with drink driving but my lawer says i may get done with taking the p*ss

  8. just back from Ireland after help dig and fill sister-in-laws grave also helped with father in laws back in January 20 odd years ago when working up a remote glen was asked to dig grave for old spinster who died - overseen by her 85 brother who complete with flat cap held down with baler twine and pipe going strong to keep the midges at bay we uncovered a scull after much head scratching by the brother and heel/toe measuring from a rowan tree he announced "aye that will be auntie mary right enough I forgot all about her" didnt know to laugh or cry inverness council have a mini digger with a blade at each end to save spraging round when digging graves on hilly cemetrys
  9. just been given a connect van with 2 sliding side doors with windows and proper back seats fitted, back windows blanked out. Anyone know what category/speed limits this comes under
  10. dalmaly is as close to fort-william as it is to oban
  11. only if you find the pipe somewhere and attach the genny to it. some marker tapes now also have a tracer wire through it but again you need to find it first and attach the genny AND it will only work as far as the first break in the wire they are not always joined when laid originally or when repairs to pipe etc carried out street light cable can be traced by attaching the genny to nearby lamppost ( it works through the earth wire ) for drains if you open a manhole and push a piece of wire along the pipe and attach the genny you can trace it -try electric cable tied to draining rods you can get a "thingy" that goes on the end of a draining rod and gives off a signal but this needs 2 people as you can only pick it up directly above it and so easy to "lose" it depth indicator also only works with the genny but NEVER EVER beleive it I will never write down a depth when marking out for digging it just gives the boys hand digging an idea where they might find it genny will also work if you know where a phone or electric cable is and sit genny on ground above it it will put a signal into the cable that you can follow erratic results from the cat can de for a number of reasons swinging it from side to side in front of you common mistake as can cat being set too sensitive also loops in bt or electric cables near where it goes up a pole can be very confusing
  12. think the worst one I ever chased was a hand reared but now fully grown cow that followed our 6 year old son upstairs and into his bedroom - it point blank refused to go back down stairway !!!!
