  1. They now work on 800kg for transport purposes
  2. If you buy it from a builders merchant it will be sold in volume if direct from the quarry it's weight. If buying from the quarry it will be wet due to dust issues:lol:
  3. They will Jon they will. Arbtalk looks after it's own. We don't agree on stuff all the time we can bitch and fall out but when the brown stuff hits the fan we come together to do what we can. It's easy to be the giver in a situation like this
  4. Width times length times depth
  5. Changed your mind then:
  6. I know we're getting out of grass cutting for that exact reason. There guys contract grass cutting hedge cutting for £27.50 an hour. One has brand new new holland tractor new hedge cutter new mower. I always say people don't always want the cheapest but with grass cutting the do. Lawn care is even worse ive been priced out the market. Only grass cutting we do now is on complete maintaince contracts.
  7. That explains a lot:lol:
  8. Theres a place at 3 cocks that hires out a 100 ft spider can't think of the name of the bloke if you can't find it come back to me and ill check my invoices
  9. Some of the prices been suggested hear for grass cutting would not get work in our neck of the woods compact or full size your not going to get any more than 32 £hour.
  10. That's why I love landscaping so much it keeps you on your toes. Just finished a job where everything had to go 50ft up the side of the house on a 3 ft path. 44 tons of materials in 12 tons of soil out. The patio and wall could with withstand a direct hit with a nuclear bomb:lol:
  11. Yep a few one told me on the phone that he'd like to test them he picked one up and stuck the prongs in the end. After I explained the correct procedure he was really surpprised to find them all sub 19%. Others have tested them after I've left and comented on there dryness on the next delivery. I even ask the customer if they would like me to demonstrate a moister reading most decline.
  12. No matter how experienced you get still use the meter some woods give the dry clack but are still wet in the middle. Could be a bit embarrassing rocking up with your seasoned firewood for the client to pick said log out and get a reading of30%
  13. Its like saying a micro digger can be beaten by a ma and shovel or a pair of sheers will be quicker than a hedge cutter. All though i put hundreds of tons through the splitter/ processor every month i still break down some with an axe and theres no way i could keep up with a splitter for anything over an hour
  14. We're due a heat wave from Wednesday onwards.... Apparently.
  15. Even so a machine does not get tired. Splitting firewood with an axe or maul is strenuous work no matter how fit you are do a couple of hours and you will not keep up with a splitter. At first you will be quicker but as time passes you will soon slow up. Plus it's hard on the body.
  16. What:confused1:
  17. Have you ever tried putting v shaped material through knives it's not pretty any one buying kiln dried will expect a consistently shaped log you will end up with lots of little ones and lots of big ones. I'd break them down on the posh and have the magic at the table and put any oversize through that
  18. For the sake of 60 note you could buy yourself a saw horse that you stack them in and cut 20 3ft billets at the same time. It's the quickest way I've found
  19. I've got a lot of billets to cut for the coming season and I'm really considering one of the rotary saw type set ups looks about as quick as any thing elsa like the look of the auto cut but only takes a meter. I reckon you could put 2.5 m small cord through a rotary saw
  20. putting billets through a processor is slow and labour intensive i would think that you will soon get fed up of that even if others are doing it you will find that they don't get a lot done no matter how hard they work
  21. didn't no they did a 12.5 what year is that magic is a good machine
