  1. i have a 395xp with 36" bar and 3/8 pitch is oregeon and cuts fine , kept 3/8 so can change to smaller bar when needed without having to change sprocket.
  2. hi mate is always hard starting out, maybe you need to take chipper hire cost out of your quote, as others who own chipper might be cheaper . I never added chipper cost onto my quotes when i was hiring , just used to group work where chipper was needed so got a better hire cost.
  3. i use as 4x4 and a trailer, is great when working with mate who also has landy to tow chipper but a pain to to make two trips on my own. i am aiming to buy a bigger tippoing trailer so i can winch the chipper in to save on two trips to job at start of the day. The one big plus side as already mentioned is i dont overload when moving 2.5 ton of chip and can stick a load of logs in landy as well
  4. I need some help with a job on the third of November , dragging brash and feeding chipper, pay dependent on quals , kit used and experience. please PM with references thanks aiden

  6. i think the best thing like many have said is to advise on best course of action for the tree according to bs3998 and then do whatever the client or contractor wants doing, as being a professional means working to the spec of the client who owns the trees. If your not happy with doing this, maybe your in the wrong job and should try to become a tree officer.
  7. on my greenmech that was doing the same , it was as Breezeblock said and was the hydrolic pump which after getting warm was not working at a high enough pressure. It only stopped working on large bits. Get a presure test done at a hydrolic place, all you need to tell them is the corect hydrolic working pressure, hydrolic place should better price than dealer
  8. JLA where are you based? Down here in cornwall weeks hire of 6"chipper is £300-£360 week and on day is £150!
  9. Yvone when are these trousers coming out ? and will all the zips be waterproof?
  10. BONDA RUST PRIMER ZINC ANTI RUST PRIMER is great paint, but you cant paint a top colour coat for one week if you apply by brush.
  11. There is firewood here if anyone needs some
  12. Dr green got any firewood spare for us ?
  13. I am in the kids field, if any see a firewood pile close by pyramid stage pls post the location
  14. Is anyone on arbtalk working dropping off the wood piles?
  15. Like others have said contact them, mine leaked though the side zips and they sent a new jacket with waterproof zips , which even in howling rain all day i never get wet. But the waterproof zip is one way so you cant use to ventalate, unless unzipped all the way.
  16. Anyone got a workshop manual for isuzu 4le engine on pdf please?
  17. oh yer sorry is a 350 , but still a good saw! http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/chainsaws/64908-dead-echo-cs350tes-chainsaw.html
  18. I had a echo 360 for a few years and was really good saw, bar mount stud broke so I replaced with xp540. The Xp 540 is good saw when cutting but is a pain to start ( been back to dealer for tune ) and I have now fixed my echo and going to use that as my main saw again. Parts for echo in three years use one air filter and bar mount stud. Parts for xp 540 in 14 months new petrol tank after 1 foot drop from garden wall, new chain tensioner.
  19. he has defo got balls, although maybe has not got so many brain cells!
  20. ok thanks for all the help , have been using machine and even though it aint working at full roller power , its still making me money! Went to hydrolic place today and they checked the pump and said it was fine when first starting (3000psi) but as soon as gets warm drops to 1000psi, so going to get new hydrolic pump and that should give me full roller power i drained the hydrolic oil and put new in so that side of the chipper is ok, my last problem is still with top roller. Because mine is a very early cm180 they only had one bearing with no grease nipple and at some point maybe that bearing failed and has made a 1mm grove in the roller shaft ( didnt notice this on the first strip down). So i need to get that filled with weld then put on a lathe to get smooth or get the new shaft from greenmech and find someone to weld it ( although this seems harder as need a proper job so it still runs true) thanks dave for the offer of workshop space, do you have a metal lathe? If i need to weld new shaft on roller anyone in cornwall know someone who is capable of doing this? also must say greenmech are a really helpfull even though i bought a 15year old machine, when i ring for advice they are great.
  21. sorry got it wrong got the markIV
  22. i got one of these and they are big! Almax Immobiliser III + Squire SS65CS Lock + Hardie Ground Anchor --- Almax Security Chains Ltd
  23. Thanks for that detailed answer pete , i am going to follow monkeybusiness instructions today and swap the roller motors and see if the probelm stays with the top roller. Do i need to bleed the hydrolic system after changing the motors? and if so how? After this, if the problem is still with the top roller i will buy a pressure guage to check the hydrolic pressure. i will also strip out the top roller and take some pictures as i am sure there are no bearings on the roller ( only bearings and shared grease point are on the arm that lets the wholeroller and motor lift up and down). So want to double check now in case the bearings from the roller are missing. all this help is great as learning a lot and when sorted my 15 year old chipper is going to work really well.
