  1. Hi as title says i need to hire someone with a land rover cherry picker, i have tried to hire cherry picker on a trailer but cant find one small enough to get to the site i am working. The job is a sycamore that has 4 stems 10-12M which need to be dismantled . So would be days work for a someone with cherry picker and needs doing asap before tree falls onto house. thanks aiden
  2. yes treeminkies as you know i need a good groundsman to get it all sorted.
  3. another vote for arborisk they smashed my renewal price from trust!
  4. in a similar situation myself i removed a tree from house this week quote says " to remove tree from house". Now neighbour who owns tree is not happy and started getting angry as i have left stump 4ft high and root plate not level ( this cut back to his garden).
  5. 50ton crane should be able to lift some big bits, i hired a 20 ton which could lift up to 2ton. Cost me £740 plus vat ( was a contract lift)how much is 50 ton crane costing?
  6. Andymacp that looks like it will be fun, lots of reverse gobs and taking it slowly to check weight of lumps i would say but i aint no expert yet
  7. it wasnt really big skyhuck ,stump is about 40" ish , i do know i want to do bigger now . At the end of the day we were lifting 1.4 ton lumps
  8. no we had it on a 5 ton tirfor holding it to the house. And when finished the last cut about 4ft up truck i thought if i let the tirfor out it would stand up, but it only moved few inches.
  9. its such a buzz watching the timber getting lifted slowly away from you. i think i will now always be thinking on big dismantling quotes will it be more cost effective to use a crane rather than slowly rope it all down
  10. Here are a few pics of my first crane job, was a really good day once i had done the first few lifts. Cant wait to do get another job that needs a crane!
  11. must be my saw think i going send back for tune up, as in the wet it dont start on first or even second pull
  12. does anyone notice it seems a real pain to start the saw in the wet?
  13. a friend of mine has a small green waste disposal site and had his compost tested and due to haveing a lot of wood chip it was very low in nitrogen so rubbish compost! If you are making compost stevebeanz i think you need to be carefull of the ratio of green waste and woodchip. A very good use of wood chip is to put down around roots of tree after treatment from airspade ( or so i was told at a bs3998 info day)
  14. keeping on topic , just bought a couple cinchs! just in case they become hard to get.
  15. yep dmm krab seem to fail loler even if well lubricated as is easy to force gate to stay stuck open
  16. you are right high scale loler is good only if inspector sensible. Although one part of the loler test on krabs that tries to lock gate open is ****. The DMM ultra o crabs fails this after as little as 6 months use but in real world climbing as you let the gate spring back it never sticks open.
  17. i was going to get a lanyard cinch system, what is next best thing for lanyard to be used drt and srt?
  18. Hi, anyone know the nearest loller tester to newquay cornwall? The guy i normally use isnt returning phone calls and i need some kit doing asap. cheers aiden

  21. thanks for ideas guys, i will strip down to see if is push in bit like you say stubby , or if will screw out the way you explain doobin
  22. Hi At work today and the stud that holds bar nut has sheared off. Good reason to spend on 540xp which should arrive tomorrow:thumbup1: . Anyone know if this threaded bar can be replaced? if it can i was going to weld nut on to unscrew the stud. thanks
