  1. Tommy_B a loler inspector cant inspect a knott that has not been tied at the factory so should always untie any treemotion bridge that does not have the red stiching intact. Better having to retie a knott that get a loler fail due to said knott!
  2. you can cut the red stiching, just make sure you tie the knott properly. At loler time your loler inspector will untie the knott without the sticting and inspect the bridge leaving you to tie the knott again. if you dont cut the stiching and just tie a new knott it might fail loler inspection as the harness was ce marked with two knotts only on the bridge
  3. can also use use a cat with a genny and signal clamp ( box with a clamp that goes around the bt wire and puts a signal on it) to detect bt fibre optic cable as it has the copper wire for phone in one cable with the fibre. Or can go with cat and just a genny by putting genny on a BT box and tracing the signal back along cable , but this method isnt as good as using a clamp.
  4. yep email is good proof of them accepting a contrat , but you need the cooling off period on the quote with a slip they detach and send to cancel contract.
  5. jose how long have you been taking the chute off for storage? i have to unbolt my chipper chute every day morning and night and since i do it so often, it now only takes 2min, got a greenmech and had timberwolf in past with no problems.
  6. good thread looks like i need to change to from 7days to 14days , you can do work in the cooling off period as long as the customer understands that they are losing there right to cancel by having the work done in the cooling off period, best to get in writing (email counts)
  7. i offer a cooling off period on all my quotes after seeking advice form solicitor, as if you get a customer who knows the law they can refuse to pay and there wont be much you can do about it, if there was not a 7 day cooling off period from accepting the quote and getting the work done . Even if a customer telephones you and asks you round for a quote it is still classed under the doorstep trading regulations.
  8. thanks for the input LincolnSteve , but i am trying to find a solution that doent cost me any money ( keep expenses low)

  13. Hi i am day three of a Loler training, which seems to be going ok. Trying to find a program that will make it easy to record all my items and produce a print out with all the information needed for a loler certificate. Not very good with windows spreadsheets but will learn to use them if it is the best software for the job. Can people please list the software other loler inspectors are using? thanks

  18. looks like i am sticking with rock teeth then.
  19. so if there is no alternative teeth, that just bolt on , think i am going to stick to rock teeth. Dont want to change the wheel untill grinder has paid for itself and paid me some profit.
  20. i have just done 3 stumps with my mk1 and is great for the price , but managed to find a buried steel bar . Are there any other teeth that fit or is it best to stick with rock machinery teeth?
  21. hi, need some advice on which cat3 /4 scanner to buy, my new stump grinder is arriving next week and both the jobs i went to quote yesturday have burried bt cables. i have done a little online research but still not sure if i need a genny and a scanner or just the scanner to find bt lines. What scanner do people on here use? so far i like this one as it self calibrates C-Scope DXL2 Cable Avoidance Tool but not sure if this one is better as more widley used i think, but needs calibrating every year http://cablelocatorsandsurvey.com/radiodetection-mk3-cat3v-cat-and-genny-kit-special-offer.html?gclid=CIzlgZLvsMoCFQjmwgod04wPZQ
  22. check the bearings with crow bar and check wheel bearings, also have some large timber so you can see the no stress working.
