  1. pete where is the pressure relief valve located on my chipper? and what will it look like? Also it is only top roller that stalls bottom roller is fine.
  2. had good look when top roller was out and there are no bearings on this, it slots straight into the hydrolic motor. It looks like bottom roller has bearings as it attaches to side of housing opposite the hydrolic motor. So maybe it will be the hydrolic motor not working ,i will swap later this week. will get the flap disc on both rollers as well
  3. Ok spent some time today on the chipper, got the roller motor out eventually! The splines on motor and on roller look ok. So will swap motors next week ( not looking forward to undoing bottom motor as not much space and needed big bar for leavarge to undo top motor). Did notice that the bungee in pic had come off the stand , the bugee seems to hold the hydrolic controll to one side ( could this part be the problem with top roller?). Thanks again for all the help , i am learning alot:)
  4. Well got it fixed and been working all week , just one small problem the top feed roller stops when under max load ( bottom roller keeps going) . Does this mean i need to change to key on the roller?
  5. THanks for all the replies, have been on phone to greenmech few times today and they have great customer care, really helpfull. So looks like since my chipper is 1999 i cant fit the newer 220 suspesion units, but lucky when i undid the old fulllbeam suspension under a lot of dirt there was the manufaturer sicker. When i called them they said could make me new by wednesday ( searched google last night for ages and every where else was 2-4 weeks to get axle made). Now have all parts ordered , clutch cable, hydrolic oil cap, axle, wheels, brake , brake cables ,new lights £644 and i will be chipping by next week Now as for maintenace going to do new oil and cooling lquid and air, fuel filters, do i need to change hydrolic oil? Also anyone got service manual or user manual for a cm180 please ?
  6. thanks monekybussiness trailertek is 3-4week to get axle made ,same everywhere i think , will try greenmech in morning and hope they got right size axle in stock
  7. Thanks for the replys, think the seller was honest as he told me he had changed the bearings on one wheel but said he hadnt done other side as they were ok. Scraggs cheers, i will call flowfit tomorrow to get filter housing . Have googled full axle beam suspension and going to take 2-4 weeks to get made so will have to call greenmech in the morning and see if they are any quicker. With such old machine was hoping to find second hand bits, but if new is the only way then going have to be, as need chipper
  8. Hi all after years of hiring chippers and mashing down brash in trailers , i went and bought a greenmech cm180. On my way home after about 150 miles the wheel fell off on M5 ! Luckily the wheel got jammed under the hopper so no one got hurt. 1. Does anyone know if i can get the bar that pulls engine down to engage the drive belts ( connected to red lever) from breakers or do i need to buy new? 2. the metal bit that has the hydrolic oil filter is this a general bit i can buy anywhere ( if so whats the technical name for it) or is it a green mech bit? 3. is the axle made by greenmech for the chipper or can i buy a new axle. Or if i cut of suspension arms off and place new suspension units under the old axle, will the chipper being 3" higher be a probem ? thanks
  9. Treedobell i find you attitude to work strange, personally i always try to educte my clients about cutting trees to bs3998. But if they insist on topping cuts then i will do correct ( no tears ) topping cuts. As they own the tree not me! If i had done the work in this case ( which i defo didnt) i would of checked tpo etc and only cut back to the boundary, as thats whant the clients wanted.
  10. yes good point old mill, i never had fly zip on any waterproofs and dont fell it is needed.
  11. all the ideas above are good , i would also like to see some reinforced fabric on bum, knees and on inside of ankle (always get small rips in waterproofs from saw or small branches) . Also will the leg zip have storm flap and all zips be waterproof zips?

  15. Hi i went to price a job yesturday and got asked if the oak was worth anything as timber. It is a very straight trunk and in a garden which you can get a artic quite close to where it will be felled ( could also winch into position next to road if needed) Any one intrested or is it firewood?

  17. hi all these senas look intresting , do they work in heavy rain? or do they go pop?
  18. Hi i am looking to start doing some freelance climbing in cornwall. At the moment i work for myself but only get tree work for 50% of my working week in the summer( the other 50% is gardening). I hold cs 30, 31, 38,39,40 and 41 , i am hard working and honest ( wouldnt dream of trying to poach work or give out my business card whislst climbing for another firm). I have full climbing kit, medium rigging kit , top handle , meduim saw and big saw. Used to rigging and have done some work with cranes. thanks aiden Pm me or 07828881307
  19. works fine with ally if you are carefull!
  20. Didnt know about the fire way of doing it, i had one break flush with metal and drilled the center out then used a small chisel to chip out the rest.
  21. i find auto cut head are great for grass and nettles but when is thicker stems and ground with twigs i use a oregoen jet head which has 6mm cord with serratted teeth. Although is not a bump n feed head is a usefull tool .
  22. Here in cornwall dont think you will win any work for £1000 a day , unless you have large team. I charge £360 day for me and another guy and we seem to be lossing a lot of work at mo cos we are too exspensive.
  23. i think £1000 for a day is well over the top, but anyone working for the wood is a mug as they dont get the mony back from the wood till is split and seasoned so wont be getting paid for one year at least.
