  1. Well it seems the people of Irton could not find one.
  2. By saying a tree is 100 years old it evokes more sympathy than if you said 60 or 70. anyway it looks to me like it is about to outgrow its space and after all an AA approved consultant has recommended its removal, and the owners (nycc) want it, thats enough for me. ps I have exclamation marks aswell and I am not afraid to use them!!!!!!!????????
  3. Ok there are pictures in The Mail today and a back story, Firstly not much of a tree, hardly a veteran, and clearly going to cause problems in the future. Secondly and ,I think, more relevantly the people who want the tree removed are outsiders who have applied to build houses, incurring the wrath of the locals. I would be interested if anyone out there thinks this tree looks 100years old. One way to find out!
  4. There are plenty around, take your time, when you post stuff like "desperate" and 'cash waiting" you sound ripe for plucking, ps get a 150 if you can!
  5. Yes it does, try and do whatever necessary to buy the twin roller, I had a single roller one years ago and they just do not pull in half as well, conifer was the worst. A twin roller is a useful machine, single roller a constant source of frustration.
  6. you said it...... I thought it.
  7. bit uncalled for, I just keep the chain sharp, blow out the air filter periodically and er.... thats it, fix problems when they arrive, stihl 064 10yrs old, Husky 288 ditto, even a 076 donkeys years old, the smaller ones will let go, after a few years.
  8. Agreed and it was the most dramatic and thrilling match I have ever seen, however it kind of papered over the growing problems at Liverpool, ie the aforementioned clubs getting away and LFC starting to join the likes of Villa and Everton. When I was growing up Liverpool were the dominant force in english football, seemingly unbeatable over a season, now they have an outside chance of a Champions league place every year. Progress?
  9. its only a 100 years old, cut it down, with the hippy in if needs be, then write a eulogy about it.
  10. where to stihl and husqvarna get their chains? Do they buy them in? or manufacture themselves. Back to thread a few have snapped usually in the wood, no harm done.
  11. 1 bad start to the season against 2 bad decades (bar 1 very flukey win against Milan)
  12. I suppose its a way that liverpool fans (or plastic scousers) can make themselves feel better. Is there any other point to this? The fact remains that Liverpool are a club in terminal decline left behind by Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, United and even Spurs. 35million for Carroll? Newcastle must be wetting themselves! Ps Arsenal fan.
  13. was going to put that!! many a true word said in jest.
  14. Spudulike on here has the answer, it sounds like something that happens a lot with this saw.
  15. I replaced mine a couple of years back, 120 quid I think, not outrageous, how much are they now then?
  16. Green side up.........I am really really sorry!
  17. Ha ha merci mille fois.
  18. OK a vt is a friction knot like a prussic/blakes hitch? I actually have a red pulley thing in the shed, but use it for friction free lowering (doh!) Thanks Thanks.
  19. VT SRT Hitch Climber, are the ones that pop up regularly. thanks in advance!
  20. right, one down, cheers:thumbup:
  21. TIP? VT? If I appear stupid forgive me, i know things have moved and i want to get up with the latest aids to help me as i get older but these letters mean nothing. Prussic and Blakes are basically the same, I use a wire core flip line with a device that one presses together to release as a back up/ringing down aid. Anyone out there can simplify this?
  22. theres the thing, whats a rope guide? I use a cambium saver to reduce friction, is that the same thing?
  23. I use a blakes hitch, I would like to try the new stuff but find all this terminology confusing, I wonder if anyone knows of a video or indeed could post one of themselves using one of these things that are at the moment just a series of letters to me. Being out here (in rural France) I rarely get to swap ideas and work with people using new stuff.
  24. seven and a half grand will get you a top quality 130 tipper, you can buy a lot of advertising with the change from that nailed together piece of nonsense. heres mine with a hydraulic winch and take off, (not for sale but you could get one for around that price)
  25. ok fair enough, ask youself what advantage this has over an ordinary 130 tipper? 'cos I cannot see any.
