  1. Strange - Rich Rule had similar issues with an MS200T earlier this month:confused1: Glad it is sorted now:thumbup:
  2. From the description it sounds like the crank shaft thread has been stripped and a hole has been put in to the crank and tapped then a allen bolt put in its place but until I see a picture, can't be sure!
  3. I don't believe Stihl ever fitted a washer on the flywheel, it has probably been fitted by someone else. I also think the thread is an uncommon one for a 13mm nut as I did need to relace one once and nothing I had to hand fitted!

  5. Yes - 0.3mm below to level to the carb body - where the diaphragm mates to the body.
  6. No idea if the chain was slipping but it looks like it would have, just needed a service which it is getting! Found this pretty shocking though!

Yes - disconnect the kill wire off th ecoil and try again, reduce the coil to flywheel gap - try A4 paper rather than the typical business card, check the resistance between the plug connection and the kill contact - if it is open circuit then the plug connection is probably open circuit. If all this fails then the coil is shot:thumbdown:
  8. Any aluminium transfer left on the bore will soon ruin the new ring and the white box pistons are not as good as the Meteor ones! Been working on a Husqvarna 40 - what do you all reckon on this sprocket - time to change it yet:lol:

I've worked for a German firm for 30 years (day job) an it has put me off anything Germanic, we have had the family DNA tested and in the dark ages, our ancestors came down from the Nordics, in to central Europe and up in to Britain. I kinda like that thought and feel strangely drawn to the Orange and silver saws - Oh, they sound much better as well. I do like the MS200T though, great saw!
  10. That will be the height setting gauge, both of mine came from the US - worth having the Walbro one, most of the Zama carbs are set to the height of the carb body so a steel rule works!
  11. One thing I would check is that the choke is sealing correctly when set to "on" and also does the saw revs well when started on the "Fast Idle" setting, a common starting issue is this setting not holding the throttle open enough. Also worth checking the L screw setting is at one turn out - if it is out much more, this may cause issues. Oh, one last thing - check the coil to flywheel gap - if this is too great, the spark may be weak. Try starting with the decomp out - if the compression is a bit low, this will not help!

  13. Funny one that, I had an MS200T run without the impulse line being conected, forgot all about it until Gardenkits post - very strange but glad it is fixed. Alvin - is the piston wet with fuel/oil as on a dry piston, I have had 135psi and it has gone up considerably once the fuel/oil is around the piston and rings. The other thing is was it a quality piston and if the saw was seized, was ALL the aluminium transfer removed carefully? It is unlikely the bore has widened to a degree where it is causing 20psi loss of compression - if it was that worn, I would expect to see aluminium coming through the Nikasil plating. On a standard 200T, I would expect 145 - 155psi, on a modded one 160 - 180psi:thumbup: Oh, this is with holding the throttle wide open while pulling it over with the gauge in!
  14. Husqvarna 345 are pretty good saws and carry a punch in a lightweight package. If you want an older saw the Husky Rancher or 266 are around the £100 -£120 mark but may need a little work to get them 100% but are solid saws.

Thats a big one Barrie, I wouldn't be able to fit it on the bench and are you sure those mowers aren't the same ones:lol: Rich - thats my 357XP, it has had a bit of tuning work done on it, if he can pick up a nice one, I can port it, got one on the shelf but think the Wolfman is wanting it or so Burrell says:thumbup1:
  18. Stick the brass bit up your bottom and fart - if you hit 150psi, you have strong guts:001_rolleyes: Think you may be over stretching yourself but guess everyone has to learn! Unscrew the sparkplug, screw the brass bit in to the plug hole, make sure the decomp is off - all this is best done on a cold engine that has been run over the last day or two or has a "wet" piston. Pull the saw over briskly once and note the pressure and then do it 5-6 times more, you should see double the first pull after 5-6 and the pressure reading should be more than 145psi. 150+ is good and 170psi is a fresh run in engine! You pull the little black handle on the side of the saw to do this:lol::lol:

  20. Check the handbook and if there is no reference to greasing the thing then argue the point politely pointing out that you believed it to be a sealed unit due to the lack of a greasing point! Personally I would have thought the amount of grease used in manufacture would last more than 7 months.....unless the item has seen some heavy use. Have a word with Gardenkit and see what the service interval is!
  21. Not good at all, the MS440 has a dual port muffler and has had the lower transfers, inlet and exhaust ports extensively modified - the lower transfers have been significantly opened up! It will be louder and faster than a typical 440 so will be recognizable if it turns up on ebay. Pics of the work are on the site if questions are asked! Hope we see it again - bloody tea leaves:thumbdown:

Can we stop talking about crack detection - it sounds a bit gay:lol: Suggest oou go to the local builders site - lots of cracks on display there.......just above their jeans backside Just got a load more work in, six MS200Ts, a blower, a Stihl 023, a Stihl 024, Husky 45, McCullock Evolution and the old KM100 that I still have in bits - may just leave it that way:blushing:
  23. Its the tiny tach 20K workshop model that the battery can be changed on! No problems so far and very useful!

Yeah right:lol: We have been doing this for years, no adults get pressies just the kids, saves a fortune and I never know what I want anyway s how can anybody else have a clue - there is a limit to the amount of bath salts, smellies, socks and novelty jumpers one needs! Good financial advice, make the most of the day and concentrate on having a good day with the family!
