1. Size isn't everything Joe:sneaky2: Done a few MS201s, I can't say if the ignition advance gives much additional performance as I have never measured it but it is a known modification and like much of this tuning, it is a mix of a lot of small tweaks that makes a difference rather than just one specific mod. If I had time, I would test everything at every stage but time and costs involved just don't allow it to be feasible! You want a bigger pipe......I will give you one:001_rolleyes:
2. I did check on the parts list and have just checked one in my workshop. Most smaller non Pro Stihl saws dont have this plate, looks like an issue with the oil pump or oil pick up pipe!
3. Do you mean the stainless plate that fits over the bar nuts as this saw doesn't have one!
4. I will fill them with more crap and you can have them back.........this customer service costs extra you know!
5. Possibly a hole in the fuel line but it would be a first. The fuel filter may not be sitting down in the tank properly, sometimes they ride up and when the fuel gets on the low side, it sucks in air. The carb may just need adjustment after the parts have absorbed fuel........... The carb may have ingested a bit of wood chip so it is worth checking the internal gauze strainer.
6. I know it is hard to believe that two supermarket carrier bags of the crappiest parts ever seen by man could be turned in to this thing of beauty but YES, it is your saw:thumbup::lol:
7. Been porting again, can't keep a good man down:thumbup: Did a MS201 muffler mod, carb derestrictor and ignition advance. Much more Whizz now. Also did a 357XP and think I have found out where the Christmad Fairy resides:lol:
8. The 1129 number denotes it is an MS200 part and looking at the 192 paers list, it looks to be 1129 664 0500 with the screws being 9074 477 4130 being Pan Head T27 self tappers. You may get away with non standard screws but they won't be Torx type - always worries me when saws have non standard screws as you wonder what else has been done!
9. That is a famous John Wayne quote, the other one being from Mad Max 1!
10. Yes, easy job - make sure you remember to put the earth back on the front AV otherwise the saw won't stop on the kill switch!
11. Nice job Barrie - didn't think you bothered with fixes like that! Been porting a 357XP today and fixing a seized 142 yesterday, lots on as always. lethargic MS201 tomorrow and Husqy 181SE after that!
12. I get one or two in, most owners are completely unaware and give them the benefit of the doubt, especially if the saw has come in as an under the bench wreck of little value!
13. I guess you have checked the piston to make sure it is OK. Carb kits are better value from Rowena Motors and are the original carb manufacturer kits rather than Stihl/Husky rebrands! Not got experience of these machines but it sounds like high speed fuel issues to me!
14. I have a couple of posts on my "What's on your bench" thread showing how I fix plug holes if interedted!
15. Must be the resident dragon getting angry:lol:
16. We used to use that word a fair bit and in my past world it was hammering a soft press tool die after the die had opened up a bit and the metal needed closing in so the tool could be resheared! Rim drives will be easier on the tie straps than spur sprockets!
17. See what you mean - I never use inserts that have a top collar on them, I grind them down so they are the exact length of the existing hole and use a high temperatere permanent threadlock compound and would warranty my repairs for life of the machine! My advice is to fit a full length threaded insert or purchase an oversize one and grind to size and use a decent threadlock as above. If that doesnt work then I may be able to try a larger insert but would need the cylinder. As you probably know, having the insert is just one part of the story. Doing the machining work and having the correct tools is the other!
18. If the Timesert is being blown out then the receiving thread hasn't been cut well - is the whole insert coming out or is it splitting in two or is just the spark plug coming out? Generally the next option is a thicker walled insert. I use a thin walled stainless insert but if someone has already butchered it, there is the option of a carbon steel insert by Ezlok - the difficult bit always be reaming the hole and cutting the new thread plus you need a fair bit of land on these inserts.
19. Had me wondering, that was in fine condition though!
20. Bet Stevie B loves his Sunday nights:thumbdown:
21. Database effor when making posts!! Just did it when making this one!
22. Looks like we will have to wait for the spring then:confused1:
23.
Good luck with the project, hope it works out!

24. Just keep an eye on the needle bearing and swap it as soon as the clutch drum gets a little wobbly - the rest of the saw seems OK......don't worry:thumbup:
