  1. Nice big yellow sticker saying 50:1 mix:001_rolleyes:
  2. Doesn't look bad, whats the piston like? It should clean up without an issue:thumbup: Just noticed that big chip in the ceiling of the exhaust port, may need smoothing or you may be able to recut and bevel it then drop the base gasket as long as you have enough squish available!
  3. He should be arrested.......................for using an electric saw:lol:
  4. I was thinking she needs a good servicing:thumbup:
  5. Saw this and she looks like a good goer:thumbup: snowblower | eBay Sort of tempted:lol:
  6. Jon, it will be a pleasure:thumbup:
  7. Had this conversation twice today, most 880s and 3120s remain unused as the 395/660s are just more useable and do pretty much what their bigger brothers will do so if you had a 661 and 880 in your arsenal, the 661 would get used 10 times to the 880s once!
  8. I must say that it is probably a good thing those saws were lost as I know where they would have ended up.......giving me big headaches:001_rolleyes: The cylinder is OK, that is the main thing, try the gap first and disconnect the kill wire when you try it, you may get very lucky. If that doesn't work then it is going to be seeing if another coil may fit and allign OK, and that is the easy bit. You then have to ensure that the ignition timing is correct and that either means moving the coil or the flywheel! As I said, I have an old Dolmar stone cutter, no idea if the coil is OK or not but it may work.....possibly! We are fortunate that the saw is old and has a fixed ignition timing as some modern coils shift the point of spark (ignition timing) to well out of kilter with where the magnet meets the coil and makes life a bitch!
  9. Lets just say it is 116cc and Matt has more money than sense:lol:
  10. Glad it worked out, had an old 032AV I sold on eBay back once a year after selling it to a local copper, local shop said it was scrap. Did what I said do to the points and bingo:thumbup: Keep on going and hope you get it running, once it is you can do all the finishing touches until it looks real nice:thumbup:
  11. Can't say hand on heart it was due to it being loose but here it is and the damage was pretty bad but we got it going again!
  12. What did I say...............thought Matty would be down the pub:lol:
  13. MattyF had a 560XP that stripped the outer stainless cover on one stuffer, needless to say it did some damage but he rebuilt the bottom end, I ground and fettled the top end, Burrell machined the piston and it ended up fully ported, muffler mod and pop up piston - still running a year later:thumbup: The stuffers are usually a snug fit and don't believe that they should be loose but never really prodded them about TBH!
  14. Clean the points with a piece of folded fine abrasive paper so it cleans both contacts and then check with a multimeter for continuity and wind it over again You may get lucky.....seen it before!
  15. Damn, why didn't I think of that......Dohh
  16. Thats fine, just make sure it is for your personal use only as the H&S would frown on you if you supplied it to an employee and they had an accident! I am not saying that ported saws are more dangerous, they generally cause less fatigue on your body as you use a lighter saw for heavier work but always mention this to cover the issue. PM me for a cost if interested:thumbup:
  17. Nice project, hope it works out for you!
  18. Tell me I am wrong but I think I mentioned this in my earlier post:001_tt2:
  19. You will need the correct tap and to use the correct tap, you will need to either ream or drill the hole out. If you drill I would use a pillar drill as hand held tends to buck off centre a bit as it digs in, I prefer a ream as it offers more control but am sure you are up to speed on this! The Ezlok I got needed an 18mm 1.5 tap I believe!
  20. Well I am glad the piston/cylinder are OK. I think I right in saying that this saw doesn't have a contact breaker and the coil is a smart unit with built in trigger but fixed ignition timing. If it is the latter then it is worth trying a very small coil to flywheel gap, try using a piece of thick grade A4 paper and spin the engine over with gusto and see if you get a spark. From past experience, you may get a slight spark and then bugger all if the coil is bad. If the coil is bad, remove it and lets get a look at it. I read a post on AS and it stated thet there are three flywheels and three coils in the history of your @*&%$ machine but I do have an old Dolmar Stone cutter - possibly something we can do here???
  21. I once managed to drive off the laminated part of a faulty coil and replaced it with a coil off another machine and a trigger unit so a Stihl 012 fitted a Dolmar 116Si! Modern coils have some whizzy electronics in them - stick a timing light on an old and then a new machine and note the difference! And which machine are you having trouble with:sneaky2:
