  1. Good fun and will burn well so take some fire precautions. Smoke signals seen miles on.
  2. There are some good small tracked machines available.
  3. Drastic method but in Saudi Arabia people who steal have the hands removed. The crime rate here would vanish overnight if the same laws applied.
  4. The reason we were given is due to costs of Police compensation payments for injuries and the time lost with less on the beat due to that. Send the NATO lads back from abroad to deal with the scum here.
  5. MBtrac and JCB Fastrac are in the same class.
  6. Sunshine that's rare site. Useful looking Foden and Sankey. How many bulk bags can you load onto the truck?
  7. I have a tape recording of a complaint we tried to make regarding the line. Shame cannot play on here but the woman said could not understand me and dumped the phone down. BT are not doing so much as different firms use the lines now and take the margins.
  8. More terrible news! Where does it all go to and who are using the saws. Does Fleabid have a method of checking certain items to check if stolen? Think we need to keep saws under the bed at night along with the double barrel smoke pole.
  9. I thought Norfolk and the broads as an nice rural area with little crime compared to some of the UK. Shows rural crime is much worse now than the councils are showing. In Derbyshire there are phone trees. (Mobiles are texted when issues to be aware of)
  10. When we were there told often trees would break without warning and are called "widow makers". We went to see a friend in Sydney and less than two minutes later whilst inside the top of this tree smashed down on the drive. The additional issue is some areas in cities are so overgrown now there is a serious bush fire risk. Difficult decisions between veteran trees and human life.
  11. I thought Oregon produced them for Husqvarna? I have greased and had no issues but the current bars seem to wear more than previous versions.
  12. The Police should be praised for taking serious action on all these current thefts and if going to certain places then I am sure couple of full riot vans might well be needed. That man will have some explaining to do now. We had one stolen (not replaced to be stolen again) on the fourth go and Police and Vodaphone refused to trace the mobile used to call me and describe the machine and would not show pictures on crimewatch as considered no risk to life. You can think of the response I said about if we caught them instead of the Police.
  13. I know someone in Cheshire who runs a U1000 on Agricultural Registration and white diesel because of the issues with HMRC and private works. He might even be on here so I will E-mail him to check. PM me some more info if this helps.
  14. Without a picture difficult but could use a rope down then make the cuts needed and climb back to finish. Alternative method I have seen if licenced:- Drill a couple of holes on the trunk and use some TNT. Keep back a considerable safe distance.
  15. The local scouts have a metal collection but the last two little available as all given to unlicenced people in the usual Ford transits which is a shame. I am told it is also illegal for the public to give waste to non licenced people to take.
  16. Even being in the trade all this time I am still learning as new methods and equipment are shown. Chatting Room no idea on that? Some of the pictures on trees, bugs, fungi are very impressive and interesting. (I should remember to take a camera with me to work) Don't know how the folks running the site manage to cope with all those different sections and postings.
  17. Dare I say it could be someone in the wood trade selling abroad? How about marking the grapples with stencils cut out of the metal? What's the local FC doing to help?
  18. The good scrap places scan all metal waste to check for smart water marking and take vehicle details and some even pictures of the people in the vehicles.
  19. Tell the Police now want the Restorative justice method. (the caravans should be sold to cover the time costs/losses/additional security measures now needed like CCTV/locks) This does work more than the courts process as I have done it twice now!
  20. Hope the insurance help fast and the woodland person is understanding. Too much of this and time it all stopped.
  21. Cross country skis sorted for the snow.
  22. These should be viewable from Yorkshire northwards this evening. Snow due!
  23. We started firewood production with an axe and twisted wedges a long time ago. Then as all those Elm's died turned to a simple screw splitting machine. I am considering a couple of options now as materials available are good tree lengths from thinnings.(not the usual various tree waste sized pieces) Do most people process shortwood materials and the reason for this as it seems much more extra handling/movement than a single process method from whole tree stems?
  24. Good idea and more different versions on You Tube. Common in Eastern Europe. The problem here is the public considering this acceptable instead of logs. Simple with hessian sacks as could be loaded straight into a woodstove. (I have tried this and wood chunks and it works well)
  25. Someone E-mailed me this last night. BBC News - Every death on every road in Great Britain 1999-2010
