  1. Thanks mixedangassed. I will pass it on.
  2. Good 2010, steady growth, lost some clients moving home etc gained some new ones. Always a bit tight financially, too many toys. Booked up now for Jan/Feb/March. Then all our gardening clients come back on board! Still worry though, you never know whats round the corner. Lets hope its a good one!
  3. Hi Guys I dont know if this is the correct place to post. But one of my guys smashed up the front of his hi lux on his way home from work yesterday. Hes bent both wings a bit and smashed his headlights and sidelights and bent the bonnet a bit. The engine is ok but the fan got a bit of a shove. Our local garage said if he claims off his insurance they will write the truck off, but say they could straighten things out and put new lights on etc but this will cost £1000+ Anyone know where he could get cheap parts?? Any advice greatfully received! Cheers Nick
  4. Nice retro stuff is so cool! Wouldnt fancy using it in anger though...must vibrate like mad
  5. Stick with it Dave, not too far to go now, will pick up in March. keep your pecker up:biggrin:
  6. Cant see it either Josh, sorry
  7. :biggrin:I reckon it would carry my lunch and jack russells
  8. Thanks guys for your thoughts and views. All adds fuel to the fire, so to speak. Keep up the good work!
  9. A friend of mine still uses horses for log extraction. I think his website is forestcrafts.co.uk name Ben May. A good guy
  10. Cute border (but dont tell my jacksies)!
  11. I agree, i dont know how anyone could get a return on investment, especially if the equipment was financed. All surveys/tree inspections I have done/been involved with rely on knowledge and experience. Keeping an open mind and not jumping to conclusions too readily.
  12. Could it be Pseudochermes fraxini (felted scale)?
  13. Sorry I was just being flippant Janey. Ive got a pokey thing and a grubby survey bag too! The Haglof clinometer is good though!
  14. Hi Carl, my sentiments exactly, when you catch it for yourself you only take as much as what you want to eat. I think its called sustainability! Thanks for your comments. Very valid
  15. Yes 18 stoner, pretty grim eh, when will we as a race give some respect to the planet that supports us?
  16. Oh and if you did go mental, £12000 on Picus tomograph, £4000 on an IML resistograph and £2000 on a fractometer.
  17. Could get a Haglof electronic clinometer to measure height under £200. A thor hammer £30. A dbh tape under £40. And a iml steel probe under £50. Maybe a 3-4mm 300mm twist drill to go on your battery drill(if you have one) Maybe a Increment borer under £400. Possibly spend the rest of your budget on a VTA style course, possibly Professional Tree Inspection. Oh and dont forget Professional Indemnity insurance, got to cover your backside! Good luck with your new venture!
  18. Spot on Sam, I do a bit of sea fishing and fly fishing when I can, cant get a more sustainable catch than when you fish with a rod and line for the table.
  19. Saw something like that in Nepal. A kid of about 5 cutting up wood with a monster axe bigger than him, while his granny looked on. He nearly took her out on a few occasions! If your after a hatchet gransfors make a nice wildlife one which is light and nicely finished. Dont know exactly what u want but its worth taking a look at the Ray Mears website.
  20. Thats so right, and its always the rich that try and screw you to the floor. Were in business to make money, were not a charitable service. Charge for your services!
  21. Excellent....cant stop chuckling! But slightly more apprehensive about entering the woods now!!!
  22. Dont do that mate, I always recognise you and read your posts. Lassie destroys me when I watch it too. I think its important that everyones views are heard, thats what forums are for. Keep up the good work. (PS I love your ears!)
