  1. Hi Guys were a relatively new company in the arb world. Things seem to have gone a bit quiet on the tree front. Our landscape gardening side is v busy apart from the frozen ground slowing us down a bit. Im not sure if im quoting a bit high on jobs, we seem to convert about 2 in every 10 enquiries. But dont get many enquiries in the first place. I have tried postcards in shops, local newsletters and regional papers but getting very few hits. Ive got a really keen ticketed lad who I want to keep busy and hope he doesnt lose interest. Any one else got any ideas how we can find more work? Cheers Nick

  5. Got my lantra ita for 360 degree excavator under 10 tonne next week. Any one done this and what was it like. Im mildly worried because the digger is 7 tonne and normally use a 1.5 or 3 tonne!!! Cheers Nick
  6. So Paul, i hope your not telling me I wasted my money attending the risk Assessment for commercial arboriculture course this year, and I purchased the health and safety package. Now you plan to give them (or a variant) out for free!?! Nick
  7. Cheers Rowan yes it is. Was it with Lynher Training by any chance?
  8. Hi Guys Anyone know of a training provider who does the NPTC Tree Planting course. Ideas of cost and /or their details would be great. Cheers Nick
  9. The double cab would probably suit you well if you shoot, because you can keep the guns safely locked up and the dogs in the back. My insurance is £350/year but thats for 3 named drivers on a business policy one who is 23 with points on his license. Its too soon to know mpg as ive only just got it. Servicing is ok as parts for fords are common stock. The ride is great, drives like a car, but you get great views! Doesnt feel massive when you are driving it. Hope this helps. (Ford ranger double cab)
  10. Ive just bought a ford ranger double cab (2003 model), because I need a 4x4. I would say there is less useable room than our volkswagen estate car. I have been looking for one for some time and was told by several people to steer clear of nissans as the engines can blow up at any time. rangers are also better value for money as they look a bit boring. Hi lux are just too expensive, thanks to Jeremy Clarkson!
  11. Cheers Scott, thats worth knowing, I think I will try to do both and see what happens! Is your level 7 the RFS Diploma? Nick
  12. Sorry Tony, Im being a little dense! Do you think it would be worthwhile getting both qualifications?
  13. Thanks Tony, dont think I need to do both then!
  14. Hi Guys I was wondering what the ISA Certified Arborist is equivalent to in the UK. Is it level 2 like the RFS Certificate or lower/higher? Cheers
  15. Another good one is Kirkham and Brown, Pruning trees, shrubs and climbers by Timber press. No diagrams but text is excellent. I rate it as better than rhs books.
  16. Yes Sloth, you are right you are being greedy. Or if you would prefer. Set up your own business, get finance to run it, dont see your family in daylight hours, work late every evening and weekends and never sleep solidly again. (Great being your own boss though!)
  17. Thanks Pete I will give them a ring. Nick
