  2. Hi Guys, I know all of you are concerned about our planet. Im shocked and deeply upset with whats going on in the part of our planet that we only see from the surface. Please take a look at the following link and make a vote expressing your views. It really is something that we cant just brush under the carpet. Watch the episodes on 4od if you can spare the time. Im afraid it reduced me to tears, I feel so helpless. Hugh's Fish Fight - Half of all fish caught in the North Sea is thrown back overboard dead Please help guys and stop this madness Warmest regards Nick
  3. Hi Mick Part of the reason for it is that people new to the area, say buying a new house. Who probably dont know anyone and certainly dont know which tradesmen are honest and reliable will be able to check on an approved list of contractors for the services that they need. So you might be missing out on some new clients. We have picked up about £8000 with BWC this last year all new people to the area. Not a bad return on investment? Cheers Nick
  4. Buy with confidence is your local trading standards scheme. It is legitimate and your business does get audited, you also have CRB checks. They do list you on the local council website. It has been free for the last few years in Devon, with a small charge of £50 coming into effect this year. It does endorse your business and is particularly relevant for private customers, weeding out rogue traders. We have had several leads from it over the last 12 months and all have converted to customers. Hope this helps. Cheers Nick Sorry for the delay tractorboy1
  5. Thanks guys for all your comments. Were all sorted now. Vat registration number arrived yesterday. Cheers Nick
  6. Hi Ben, I registered when I exceeded the threshold. It is on a rolling twelve month period so its worth keeping an eye on it. I originally thought it was based on financial year but its not, because of this I did exceed it a little earlier than I thought.I have voted! Cheers Nick
  7. Thanks John, looks good. I think that might be just what we are after. Cheers Nick
  8. Id say rabbit too, they might stop if the snows gone, they were probably a bit desperate. Can you shoot them or humane trap? The pictured tree will prob be ok, if thats the worst, I think you have got away with it.
  9. Ive had a landrover tdi 200 and now a ford ranger. The landrover was expensive to buy, excellent off road, noisy, and leaked like a seive. The ranger was cheap, comfortable tows well but a bit sketchy off road. Prefer the ranger overall but im still in love with the landy!! I miss her!
  10. To the left is my dog brock, he wont let me fish cos he wants to chase the bait or throw sticks (all sticks are his by birthright), he gets too excited, he barks at cars and slobbers on the windscreen, but hes cute when he sleeps!
  11. Scary stuff, wheres me bill hook?
  12. Matt I thought Blandford was a posh area, im really surprised about the hastle you have there. Very best luck with everything, please dont let it get you down. Baddies are a minority, we just give them more attention and thought than the rest. Cheers
  13. Thanks Guys. Ive spoken to all my clients today and their all pretty cool finding an extra 20%. Which did surprise me a bit, They are just happy that my business is prospering! I will pursue most of the points you all have mentioned, Im feeling very confident about the future. probably sleep quite well tonight! Cheers Nick
  14. Thanks chaps, some really good advice, im really grateful. Its all my fault, up to now ive done my own accounts and tax returns. But I have now engaged a local firm who are very pro active and im sure they will be worth their salt. I am really worried about charging VAT to my clients as most are private customers who are serviced by us weekly and repeat business. Has anyone else noticed a downturn in turnover when they have started charging VAT? Thanks again everyone, Its been very helpful.
  15. Hi Guys I took my eye off the ball and thought this was worth posting. I assumed (bad man) that the £70000 VAT threshold was based on your tax year. How foolish of me. Its based on a rolling 12 month period. This has caught me out as I thought we might reach it by end Feb, early March (based on financial year) Well we hit it and sailed right past it in November, and didnt even notice. December was rubbish but on a rolling 12mth period we are still over it and forecast to be so from now on. We have now(today) registered. But all income for some of November, all of December, I will be liable for VAT even though I havnt charged my clients it on invoices. Further more IR might fine me, for being a numpty!! PLEASE EVERYONE DONT BE AS STUPID AS ME!!!! Cheers Nick:001_smile: Still smiling!
  16. Hi Gollum, its on a steep rocky bank. i will take a better look tomorrow, snow permitting.
  17. Hama, that makes a lot of sense, i've missed the bleeding obvious! Behind this beech is a sycamore that has been repeatedly knawed at by squirrels. Didnt know they took a shine to beech as well. Thanks again. Nick
  18. I Agree. Its happened to everyone to varying degrees. You will lose a lot less if you come to an agreement now. Its not worth going mad, you will just stress yourself even more than you are at the mo! Best of luck matey.....I feel your pain. Nick
  19. :thumbup:Excellent device! Tree climbing made easy...as long as you take your bike?
  20. Looks bacterial dont you think, cant find any resemblance in my books yet?
  21. Well done Rob. Merry Christmas!
  22. Sorry, should have said discoloration not decay at the time the photo was taken!
  23. Hi Guys Any suggestions on what caused the decay in this beech in my garden. There was die back in the crown, but no signs of any fungal fruiting bodies. There are a few other trees Fraxinus excelsior in the same area that have suffered root plate failure recently. Dont know whether this is linked or a separate issue. Cheers Nick
