  1. Will be buying it as he is selling it for £275. Normally sells for about £350
  2. I have noticed that in my dad and i's 110 there is a knocking coming from the steering. The bushes and bearings are all OK. The UJ's have some play but nothing more than normal. The knocking sounds and feels like it is coming from the steering wheel or just behind it. It only does it at slow speeds too (especially when driving down roughish tracks). Any idea what it would be as our main garage is stumped by it?
  3. One step ahead there. Going to be removing any leaners and then laying what we can.
  4. Ok thanks. will have to go back to using the eye hole then.
  5. Thats what i mean give a knock back in the autumn when the tree is shutting down for the winter then see how it reacts the following spring. We shall get the tree officer out within the next couple of weeks to look at the tree and see what he says. We shall also have the head of arboriculture from the county council to see what he suggests. Here is a picture of the tree from September last year.
  6. To about 5 metres in hieght (or first major branch union)
  7. My boss is selling me his old Canon EOS 40d. He has the 550d and swears by it. How easy is the 40d to use? and does the LCD screen on the back act as your view finder?
  8. I shall be keeping a very very close eye on this tree. It has two major targets (two roads leading to two housing estates) and 2 medium targets (permissive path under tree and small green space within falling distance). The first sign of it starting to fail it will be reduced to pollard height to reduce the risk.
  9. As the Oak now has both I.dryadeus and G.australe working how long would it be before we need to take serious remdial work?
  10. There are rumours going around that there is going to be a riot in Blandford tonight. The vans are locked in a big compound. I heard the rumour from a PCSO that i know very well. I joked that isn't that normal for a Friday night in town.
  11. Went back to Green Lane (site with lots of Oaks with I. dryadeus). The small bracket forming at the base of one of the Oak which i assumed was I. dryadeus due to the old FB above looks like it may be a forming G. resinaceum. I shall be getting more pictures of it as it develops over the coming weeks and months. Also more shots of Phallus impudicus and some Coprinus micaceus.
  12. Filled up one jerry can at tesco before they shut the pump off and called over the tannoy that there is a ban on filling up petrol cans. We paid for the 20 litres of petrol then went to a smaller garage in the town with no ban.
  13. Every month i personally strip everything down whether its been used or not and make a note of anything to check next time or if parts need ordering. We just put fresh air filters on the FS400, 450, and BG85 so they should be good for another 12 months. On our chainsaws (mainly the MS341s and 362s) we replace the sprocket each year as they get some hard use. Either tree felling or stump cutting.
  14. Already got that blower related ticket.
  15. The Hardy Boys started well then just fell apart. Best wrestler of all time im my mind was Chris Benoit.
  16. The old school ECW stars. Sabu, RVD, Mick Foley, Terry Funk.
  17. Thats mucked up my plans tomorrow then. Got 4 20 Litre Jerry's to fill as well as 3 combis and 3 normal cans. Normally fill up at tesco but hoping it shall be ok as in a marked council van.
  18. Stripped the FS450 this afternoon and found the exhaust gasket had disintergrated. We had a spare one so fitted it and it doesnt rattle at all. I cleaned the cooling fins with a stiff nylon bristle brush on our drill. It is now almost as clean as it was when we picked it up. I stripped it down so the driveshaft was clear of the engine block and noticed the clutch was worn (thanks to a previous colleague using cord about 2 ft long for cutting nettles and docks) so that is now ordered. Next job the FS400.
  19. Cheers Spud. That will be my job tomorrow afternoon. The FS450 had the exhaust rattle loose (dunno why or how) but it was put back together. The right hand bolt on the FS450 was constantly turning round and wouldn't tighten. As it is a steel bolt going into an alu block i didn't want to keep turning to completely shred the threads. But will strip it down again and use our super stiff nylon brush to clear it out again.
  20. Its probably nothing to worry about but after a long stint of being run full throttle I have noticed that they all smoke from around the cooling fins and especially around the exhaust. I think it is just spooge burning off but sometimes it has the smell of burning wood especially from the strimmers. Its definately not the head gasket blowing up.
  21. Paint balls would work too. Go for headshots only. You can't hide a black eye or two:thumbup:
  22. Some shots of Harebell on Milldown. The first set of pics are of Harebell in the butterfly area. Each time we strim/brushcut the butterfly area we beat over an area (2mx2m) with an old brushcutter blade to loosen the seed bank.
  23. Found some Phallus impudicus with impotence and size issues. Went back 2 days later and more have appeared from their eggs and are proper size.
  24. Had a good day checking out lanes. Since we did them last year two of them have been downgraded to footpath as the local parish didnt like seeing Land Rovers and the like going down a peaceful lane that went between two farms. One of the lanes we did had TRO (Traffic Regulation Order) on it but we only saw the one notice at the exit of the lane. It was drivable but a tad sticky with a few deep puddles in the middle. The two pics are of the landy in Halstock on our second tea break.
