How so on the trenching? With that narrow "fresher" tarmac although it is on the very very edge of the drip line, would the roots out there when they were removed by the digging caused the A.mellea to get in, thus weakening the tree slowly over the 10+ years it has been in the root system?

Yup. Thats definately A. mellea. The footpath and the recent trenching work to the fence in the first shot probably didnt help. The little Rowan looks like it has started to be affected by it. The fungi is panic fruiting by the looks of it too so it would be long until it starts munching into the wood in the trunk.

5/6 - Growing under a Maritime Pine 7/8/9 - Growing under Scots Pine 10/11 - Growing about 5 metres away from a Maritime Pine 12/13 - Growing next to Scots Pine 14 - Is growing on a Scots Pine deadwood pole. I'm guessing Phaeolus schweinitzii? Sorry for not giving details of where each fungi was growing. It had completely slipped my mind.

Found on an Ash stump with panic fruiting Armillaria mellea.

Pics were taken during my Heathland Course after a gentleman claimed there were no fungi that would grow on heaths due to their acid soils.

We have noticed since we've had the FS450 the centre "wingnut" doesnt tighten down fully and thus causes the handlebars to move forward or backward when either tapping the autocut head or pulling through brambles. My colleague snapped the second wingnut today in 8 months. We have given him word of advice about it each time it breaks but he doesn't listen and think he knows it all. When we get the new part we shall be adding some duck tape around the handle to give the clamp something to bite to. We have a mower in the back of the van most days so have to turn the handlebars 90 to fit them in. We have never had an issue with our older FS400. Would the repeated tightening and loosening of the wingnut cause it to fail so soon or is my colleague being too rough with it?

I thought spraying Ragwort in a paddock would be the worst thing to do as the horses would only eat the ragwort once it is dead and shrivelled. Might be wrong but we always pull and remove off site.

We have a horn system if we are doing any climbing work. 1) 2 beeps of van horn - Watch out 2) 2 beeps of air horn - Stop person 3) 1 long beep of van and air horn - Stop all work, Saws off, chipper off 4) 3 short bursts of air horn branch on the way

We use two Hardi BP15.We did have a Cooper Pegler CP15 but we noticed the pressure valves released as soon as we had pressure.

Am i right in thinking that woodchip leachate is on par with Milk for its water polluting properties and high B.O.D?

Leachate from the woodchip. If it is green wood then the leachate is much more potent and concentrated. At our council yard all of the loading bays are angled forward except the woodchip bay which is angled back to the rear wall to contain the leachate. Farmers are not allowed (yet still do) to have silage clamps within 100 metres of a watercourse unless there is sufficient procedures to stop the leachate from entering a watercourse.

We've got it going bananas on a few stumps that are about 5 years cut. These pics are of last years fruiting. There is a big deadwood ash monolith that i am making a noted of what is coming up each month. Them mellea that comes up around that is mind blowing. When i can get in there i shall get some pics when it begins fruiting.

A very rewarding job this afternoon. We had cleared the edges of vegetation and then decided to see where the edge was. We found it was 3 feet in from the "edge" of the path. -

Spotted this very wee little critter. On further digging around to see if the stem went into the ground i noticed that it was attached to a burdock stem cut last year. -

Found yesterday whilst out with 3 out of 4 dogs. Pics 1,2+3 - Hypholoma sp growing on buried stump Pics 4,5,6,7,8+9 - Carpet fungi causing very intense white rot on Hawthorn. The hole was created by a woodpecker attempting to make a nest for this year. Pics 10,11,12,13+14 - Armillaria sp panic fruiting on multi stemmed Ash stump.
