  1. 200ml to 10 litres of water is the normal ratio for Round up pro. We generally use a ratio of 300 ml to 10 litres.
  2. It hoofed down for about an hour. We sheltered under a massive barn and watched Stonechats, Redstarts and Whitethroat in the adjacent barn feeding off the left over grain.
  3. Yesterday i went for a 13 mile walk with an old work colleague around Crichel Estate. I took my dads Konica Minolta Dimage Z2 to get some shots of some of the specimen trees in the woods. Pics 1,2,3,4,5 - Lightning Tree. It is the only tree in the field Pic 6 - Great Dorset Steam Fair site Pic 7 - Old Mans Beard flower Pic 8 - Raven Pic 9 - White tailed Bumblebee on Thistle Pic 10 - Millipede under broken piece of bark Pic 11 - Very active wasp nest Pics 12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,+20 - Wellingtonia Avenue Pics 21,22 +23 - Splitting Beech Pics 24 + 25 - Wellingtonia Avenue Pic 26 - Roe deer Pic 27 - Spear Thistle Pics 28 +29 - Desicated bracket on a Goat Willow Pics 30,31,32,33,34,35,36,37,38,39,40 + 41 - Big rotten ash with lots of Ganoderma applanatum and another fungi which forms velvety carpets.

  6. Found this a few days ago growing under a large Oak. Thought it was of the Boletus family but looking at the family it doesnt look like any of them. Any ideas?
  7. It was havoc in Bournemouth today. We got the same amount of rain but no where near the amount of flash flooding. BBC News - Dorset flash flooding causes disruption
  8. I want to see what it becomes. It has grown since i last took pics of it. Would be nice to see if it is Ganoderma australe.

  10. And yet another big drug den clear up. We had the local police with us incase they came back. It is getting annoying now as we are filling a sharps box up a week. This has to be one of the worst clear up i have ever done (so far). 2 sharps boxes filled and 4 binsacks of general waste.
  11. Had both the LA TO out as well as the County Council head of Arboriculture to look at the Oak with G.australe and the plan is to reduce its height by approx 25%. We would only remove the dying branches and will coronet and fracture prune where possible.
  12. Yet more needles. I found them after i had mown an area of burdock out next to a bridge. The bridge is the main pedestrian bridge into the town centre with approx 2,000 people using it a day. It is highly frustrating as we are picking up atleast five a day on our sites.
  13. Yep you can pass the info onto your brother. We will be starting at the A30 end of the Old Shaftesbury drove and should be there for about 10am. Then the fun shall begin. I'm hoping for some more rain as it was more dust than mud but planning on doing lanes that we havent driven before. What vehicle does he have and does it have any modifications (other than tyres)?
  14. We will be in 4x4's but you can join us on bikes if you wish.
  15. On 27th August my dad and i are going green laning with a few friends around Salisbury Plain and doing a few extra lanes in the local area. If your interested in coming along feel free to PM me.
  16. Too big for a Wren. Its legs are too long. And although it has an uplifted tail to make it look like a Wren the markings on the wing suggest it is a Robin and Wren juveniles are little furballs for about 6 weeks when they have hatched.
  17. Looks more like a robin and definately a juvenile. If it is a Wren it was a very lanky one.
  18. Yep. I drained the reservior and replaced it with fresh oil just to be on the safe side.
  19. Shame we cant do our favourite lanes around Imber (German village/Chitter Down) as the MOD are training up there. Still got plenty to do.
  20. Parts arrived today (very strange for them to arrive on a sunday). Replaced top and bottom steering UJ's. Also replaced the steering column bulkhead bush and the rattle/clunk has seemed to have stopped at low speed. Will see how it is when we go out of 27th August for a full day up on Salisbury plain, Old Shaftesbury Drove and the famous Ox Drove.
  21. Most likely yep. I'm hoping the parts will arrive on Monday for me to start attaching bits. My mum was horrified to see the landy being supported by just four 18 inch thick discs of oak with notches in them. Had the wheels turning as well whilst i was underneath:001_rolleyes:
  22. Did the invesgation work and now got a steering column UJ on order. As well as the bearing bush where the steering column comes through the bulkhead
  23. Will be checking that tomorrow whilst listening to the cricket. got a trolley jack and 2 massive lumps of oak to use as axle stands:lol:
