  1. Sounds awesome. Let's see some pics of your gear!
  2. Always fancied a go on one. Maybe I’ll stick with the bobcat though! Whats the problem with the tracking, underpowered?
  3. Do you mean something like this? 8mm for a 3.5t winch? Guessing I could reel 8mm poly rope on to measure how much Dyneema I could fit on the drum. I hate wire ropes ropelocker.co.uk - Winch Rope: Marlow Winch Rope WWW.ROPELOCKER.CO.UK Marlow Winch RopeWe use a 12 strand low stretch, high strength uHMPE winch rope and can design and make your...
  4. Are you lot sure 3.5t is big enough?? Just picked this up from riko. Stephen was a gent to deal with, a huge amount of knowledge on alpine tractors too. Said I got a steal with my recent purchase. Did me a very good price on this winch and a free choker chain.
  5. That’s the one I saw I think.
  6. I'll bet it's a lot more.
  7. I think it's standard. Engine will only do 50lpm I reckon- but with the fourth pump, if the aux needs it it gets it. Kind of like a priority valve? I was amazed at the video I saw.
  8. Compare engine sizes and overall weights. Many manufacturers offer something around 2.5t with an engine not much bigger than a 1.9t. You want the one around 2.7-2.8t. Often a 'premium' model with twin aux and rollers on the joystick, which is essential for arb work with a grab IMHO. Bobcat E27 (not E27z or Doosan DX27, both are zero and smaller engines) Kubota KX30, not KX27 I think the new CAT models rate highly here too, and I know air con is standard which is a big leap forward. The Eurocomach 2.7t machine has a fourth pump dedicated to the aux, so there's not much to touch that for flow rate (at a cost!) I've seen videos of it tracking and flailing a hedge, and doing a decent job of it too.
  9. You might be using the wrong chord. Have you tried using a capo?
  10. It’ll be on an alpine most of the time so I’ll ‘risk’ a 3.5t winch.
  11. I want the biggest that’s sensible, which looks like 3.5t. Let’s be honest, you’re not winching properly unless the front wheels are off the ground! 🤣 has anyone used the Riko winches with the combined control for both brake and clutch?
  12. It's bloody satisfying when you get to the bottom of a problem like this isn't it!
  13. I'm like Uniforest 35m currently, mainly because it can take up to 90mm of 9mm rope which is quite a bit more than the others. Uniforest, Krapan and the one Riko do (Austrian?) are all around £2200, the Igland is £3300. But the Riko one apparently has an automatic brake, which makes feathering it easier? Opinions?
  14. Made up a euro adaptor and some better link arms.
  15. Anything from £50 a month and some logs to a reasonable farmer to £500 per week to some greedy ****************. By far your best bet is to get out there and ask around.
  16. Where is the job? Does sound a bit like making a mountain out of a molehill.
  17. Bolam put it best. He said a Sherpa needs a machine operators touch, whereas he has the touch of a rapist 🤣
  18. Mainly for use on a 38hp Alpine but will probably also be used occasionally for odd jobs on a 26HP Kubota. Any reccomendations, anyone got anything to sell?
  19. What whisperings have you heard as regards >3.5t licensing?
  20. Honestly, I think you should. Each of my machines makes me way more per day than the profit on a subby or employee without the hassle, and they are assets on the books rather than a liability.
  21. Storm damaged birch, already rotting (possibly not as summer so dry but still…). Small machine access only. Sounds like they just want a sucker to tidy it up. I’d think very carefully about getting involved, even if you bag it up you have to keep it properly undercover (barn) and even then it’s pretty crap.
  22. I’d have sacked the machine off by now
  23. Sounds like an expensive way to charge batteries to me. That’s why i run petrol saws.

  25. 100 welding amps is different to 100 amps at 240v. And you can’t mean 300-500amps for the charger, you must mean 3-5 amps?
