  2. Do you mean it ‘goes right through customs’ if they don’t catch you?? Or are garden machinery imports from the Philippines duty free??
  3. The biggest brushless makita one is good, bags of torque and comes with a long brace handle. Waitley knock off batteries are good and the 18v makita system has a lot of other tools so a good one to ‘lock in’ to with the purchase of batteries and drill. modern top of the range battery kit is better than the old petrol drills.
  4. Might be best to get a bloke with a digger to pull the stumps out. Won’t take long, however you then have to get rid of them. But will let you establish grass much more easily. Grinding mixes up grindings and soil and grass doesn’t like to grow in it so well.

  7. Agree, if you're going to go to the effort of strapping it on each time (ooh missus!) then get a bigger one.
  8. The extra counterweight and uprated motors are called the performance pack. I think it's basically motors and counterweight from an E20. Not sure why it's not listed. Consider whether you want long or short arm. Many say the long arm is too long. Short arm is the same as my outgoing Hyundai 'long arm', and I'd have gone even shorter if they offered it as you want less length when using grabs etc. What did they tell you for lead time?

  11. You're looking at mega lead times, especially if speccing options. I've been waiting since March for a special order Bobcat E19- could have had one in standard UK spec from stock back then but I doubt you can now. Hopefully it lands this coming week! If you use a digger a lot then new on finance makes a lot of sense. My E19 with canopy was 19k with all the extras- hydraulic hitch, twin aux, extra counterweight, uprated track motors, joystick rollers etc. Standard spec canopy around 16.5k. What have you been quoted for pump repair? Even if you repair it I'd still move it on. If a bad failure then bits of metal will be all around the system waiting to cause havoc.

    I've only ever had one engine sieze up, and that was an FS450 with seven full years commercial work. I've always filled everything on Stihl red, to just over the line of the measuring gauge. Probably about 45:1 ? I'm with Paddy on this. It can't hurt. I've never noticed any excess smoking. Never noticed any extra cost. And never had any engine failures bar that on dozens of saws etc used commerically. All the problems with modern vehicles are directly related to increased complexity for emmissions and MPG. Not to say that there haven't been major improvements- I'd never want to go back to non common rail. But we shouldn't believe everything the manufacturers tell us, because they are told to say that by the governments. What's the reasoning on the new 2 mix saws needing green oil? 4 mix i know about, it was a shit system and they fail anyway. But someone on here made a convinving argument for running the new green on 2 mix saws so I bought a couple of 5 litre cans to try.
  13. I love my 10x6 tipper trailer, but only occasionally. When I have a lot of weight to shift a fair distance. Every other day I'd rather jump in the Iveco Daily tipper. So much easier.
  14. Not run that chipper or the GH49BT, had a GX84 and far prefer the new GH style personally. Forgot to mention, I'd never go back to individual ramps. Just chuck the full width ramp down and away you go, no messing around. The GH ramps have a slightly bevelled edge which is nice to keep you aiming straight with larger kit like the E27
  15. Really rate my GH105 with full width ramp. Everything is perfectly ergonomic. Tie downs right where you want them, breakover angle nice with the beavertail bit, spring assisted ramp that stays up even with no catches screwed tight (!), lightweight. The GH105 has the beavertail bit as standard. It makes a real difference loading. It's a good bit narrower than most other 3.5t plant trailers I've used. My Bobcat E27 has an inch each side, and my 1.8t tracked dumper (must be similar to yours?) is a comfortable fit. You might be able to squeeze the dumper on the 2.6t GH model if you never take it anywhere loaded etc. But if you go this route I'd recommend speccing the beavertail bit.
  16. You’ll want more than you think. They are very heavy, and you need enough clean planings for them to bind into a layer else you may as well not bother.

  18. It’s the way of the beast with a drum chipper. All you can do is learn to hold the stringy stuff back as you feed it.
  19. Explain to the customer. Then the plastic waste can be a stain on their conscience rather than yours...
  20. Some are. I used to run old 4x4 tyres on the front axle of an international loader tractor and had to make sure they were rated for it.
  21. There is a school of thought that says a single wheel is better off-road, especially on mud tyres.

  23. Keep it as backup. I have two forklifts because one is only worth £1.5k and we're screwed without being able to move pallets.
  24. What happens if you really don’t agree, especially a non fault claim? Can you take them to an ombudsman?
  25. It may well be doomed due to ash dieback anyway. That’s an English opinion on an English disease affecting most ash currently. Where in the country are you? You would be better to see if it recovers over the next year or two. I appreciate it’s an eyesore of a bodge but there’s no point throwing good money after bad and then potentially worse (ash dieback). it’s decimated ash here. Barely anything left and it was probably our most common tree locally. I can’t see the rest of the country escaping sadly.
