  1. I found that webbing loops made for good footholds, especially when cutting. My boots kept getting pinched otherwise! Grey poplar, BB?
  2. Poplar reduction, my first!
  3. This is my first reduction, of any size worth talking about. It is a 60' poplar that the customer wanted to keep, but was worried about falling onto his house. It was decided to take 1/3rd from the top, and I found my first Poplar a pig to work on without spikes. Be kind, but any feed back would be nice.
  4. Also, in talks with Wolf from gladiators to co-host!
  5. I have a film crew, just need some funding, perhaps one of the companies that advertise here would like to sponsor? I will be in make-up if you need me darlings!!
  6. Forward letter to HSE? see if they feel the same way. The BBC is too busy burying jimmy saville records to be interested imo.
  7. So lads, what do we do now?
  8. I'm glad to hear some feedback on this saw at last, It appeals to me but i just couldn't splash the cash on one without hearing some actual feedback. Keep us informed.
  9. Agree with the above, you can always top dress the chippings with more if needed, be carefull tho of stones if you chip any of your wood, or if using a chainsaw on wood on the ground.
  10. When I clicked todays posts the menu of threads are looking a bit odd, stretched from the lh side of the screen, hope this makes sense, and or helps. Keep up the good work:thumbup1:
  11. Good idea Wooded, this should be a good thread. I normally attack people with cameras when i screw up, so will have to look extra hard for pickys of my cock ups!!!!
  12. I purchase all my kit in the uk, but as a french resident and there being no ticket system here would i be eligable to purchase? I only ask as i have never been asked to provide cs tickets or even if i know what end of the saw does the cutting! the end with the trigger and control switch yeah? What if you send someone to pick it up for you?
  13. Hello tree people, I have been asked to do a reduction on a walnut tree, and as i have no experience of this trees likes and dislikes I was hoping that you could give any advice on them. time of year to cut etc. I have recommended a program of 2-3 years, with 15-20% this year and similar in 1-2 years time. to allow epicormic recovery. I am a bit nervous as reductions are not my normal MO. The reason for reduction is light blocking and proximity to a road, the owner has been told to prune back or the council will with a hedge flail!
  14. I normally wear my Balance forestry helmet with visor and ear defenders when rounding up cattle and hog tying varmints. So dont start with the cowboy stuff, unless you can to duel like john wayne, pilgrim.
  15. just so got this straight, if i was to attatch the spliced end to a crab and a strop around a tree trunk and stretch the rope with a prussik down its length will this work? will the core leave the rope or will it just squash all the air and voids out? Sorry, I really am that stupid!
  16. Nice! would like to work there alot!!!
  17. If the A-Team were pimps, this is what they would drive!
  18. Love it! that looks better than my house!
  19. use the free air line at the petrol station.
  20. What about a little electric home user chipper? you could probably hire one for not much money, I know it would be slow, but if your stuck it may be your only option. Or tell her to sort her house out and meet you in the middle if she wants it chipped that badly?
  21. Please excuse my ignorance, but how do you milk a rope?
  22. I too am thinking sj, anyone use it with marlow geko rope?
  23. What a dog! the back just makes it look like its been run into by another disco! Would be interested if it was converted to single cab tipper, with a diesel engine like a tdv6? I used to love the charmichael 6x6 range rovers, a mate had one with all his saws and kit in the lockers, and a boughton winch where the pumping gear would have been.
  24. Thats very sad news, I hate this kind of thing, theft is bad in every case but to steal someones tools when times are hard enough is beyond low. Could you look at a recon or good condition s/h ms200t? less dosh and it will be familiar to you aswell. Good luck to you and hope you are not left short or to badly out of pocket.
  25. £10 wont even cover the postage charge when the 560 breaks and needs sending back next week! Only kidding, hope it works as it should, let us all know as I'm thinking of going down the husky route.
