  1. Thanks for the advice. Sorry to have bothered you skyhuck, it was for real, but thanks for making me feel stupid.
  2. Has anyone else found when cutting Ash that they get a big build up of green slime on the chain which seems to bake on when cutting? Done a lot of wet ash after the storm and my chains are hanging now. Scraped it off my 13" and it took a fair while, dreading doing the 28":sneaky2: Any ideas on an easy removal/fix?
  3. Welcome to the forum me ansome, I'm from Cornwall originally (Truro) and wish you the best of luck with your future in this glorious trade.
  4. Grandad helped in bomb disposal during the blitz, assisting the officer with digging and passing tools, then came to France on D day plus 4, with a scotish reg. (odd as he was Cornish!) anti tank unit using a piat, shot by a sniper in Belgium in December '44 lost a finger and hit in the arse, long spell in a field hospital. My Gran worked in Munitions factory in Bridgend and then Coventry - bombed to hell, and lots of girls injured in accidents. They were brave. Great uncle was, I'm told, a sniper.
  5. Its the one week of the year that my house doesn't have bits of conifer in it!
  6. Nearly brought one until I read in the small print that the paper is not included! Fair play to the guy, I doubt it will make him a millionaire, but if his claim is correct, and it will reduce fuel consumption by 1/3rd then the firewood dealers need to brace themselves for a dip in their orders!
  7. Is the competition open to those of us outside the UK?
  8. A Husky 390xp ona 28", a fiskars x27, and Harkie smock and trousers Had to balance things up with redecorating the living room, with Farrow and Ball paints, , Mrs Lumberjack feels this is fair
  9. "he's an ice devouring sex tornado"- Blades of glory "Stop yer grinning and drop yer linen, found em" - Hudson, Aliens. "How do I get outta this chicken $h1t outfit" - Hudson, Aliens. "Have you ever been mistaken for a Man?....................... No, have you?" Aliens " Slider- who's ass did you kiss to get in here? Goose- The list is long and distinguished.... Slider- Yeah, so's my johnson! "
  10. The "Blair Ditch Project" Love the kit on this thread guys, amazing what these machines can do. how do you guys find them for stability? my experience with mini diggers is that they kick and buck about and leave your stomach and lower back worse for wear after a day or two's use. Does the machine counterbalance the weight of the timber well?
  11. Just remember, there are a lot of women that like a man in uniform............................................................................. That said, when I tried dressing up in a uniform to impress a girl it all backfired on me, bloody Traffic warden costume
  12. I need an anti down draft cowl as Im getting some smoke in the livingroom and wondered if anyone has got a Dragon one that revolves out of the wind like in this link Darco Rotowent Dragon 150mm Revolving Cowl - Stainless Steel - NG Bell Building Supplies, Builders Merchants It seems you can sweep the chimney without removing it like you would with the wirly go round types. Any feed back would be much appreciated.
  13. if it bleeds......... we can kill it. Predator
  14. was a guy in my brothers class at school called Eric Chung, poor sod!
  15. F-180 is a nice little cheap silky, I have had one for a couple of years and it is still great. There is a review on the reviews part of this site, for the money its one of the best bargains ever!
  16. Its been said on here before, but "drying" your fishing lines with treble hooks around your chipper/shed is a fantastic place to dry them, dangling from the ceiling with the hooks between 2 and 6 feet from the ground in a poorly lit area will have great "drying" results.
  17. I have lost track of the number of customers that have said " I have a chainsaw in my shed, could you show me how to sharpen it?" never been offered one to take away, even a b&q plastic fantastic Well done you, still got the plastic on the name plate............... Nice!
  18. I have a husky 345 which is a little belter, Ok its not a pro saw but it is very nice to use and with a short bar of 13" it is very well balanced, I got it about 8 years ago as a back up saw, and apart from a leak in the fuel line, its not let me down. I wouldn't want to sell it ever, as its just too useful, especially for a newcomer to gain experience with. The 545 is probably the newer incarnation of this saw, so should be a good bet.
  19. Is that a highland bear in your avatar? looks just like the one at Tregothnan estate in Cornwall.
  20. The big softwood ones like what stubby has in his picture. If Husky make them I would buy them, the standard ones hardly stick out past the oil tank. Do the new flippy caps fit the 390? would be a good addition imo.
  21. All the OM ones I have seen are short, like the ones on it. If you have a number for some long fangs for it I would be greatful
