  1. Thanks David. The ones in the crack look like dried porridge oats if that helps? I don't imagine that the tree is going to develop in a healthy manner with all this fungal activity, looks like it will have to be replaced. Shame .
  2. Not sure on the type, but there is a white foam available here with fibers in it that keep it rigid, and as for application, I would drill a hole or two in the side walls and squirt it in through there. There is probably a good reason why this would fail, but I never think that far ahead!
  3. Probably a silly idea, but could you fill the originals with expanding foam? that should solidify them and they would be the correct size/fit.
  4. I had a poke about under the mulch and found loads of woodlice, a fair few worms and these other fungi, they are small and brown. Thanks for putting the pictures straight! Also, I took one close up of a split as it seems to have fungi in it? Your help much appreciated.
  5. Hi Chaps, Can anyone tell me what this "canker":blushing: is on the base of one of my Hornbeams? I only noticed it today, and none of the other's I have seem to be effected. There is also a fungi growing next to it as you will see in the photos. The mulch only went down a month or two ago, so could that be responsible? Any help much appreciated, and should the tree be removed or can it be cured? Its in an area of garden I planted as a mini arboretum, so dont want it to spread to other trees. Thanks in advance.
  6. Just a pain as everything takes an age to get here and local delivery drivers are less than helpful, not to mention i will have to pay to send them back, The client turned out to be a good one, 4 days conni bashing plus a load of dead wooding/ formative punning. thanks!
  7. I have just got my New Pfanner gladiator type a vent's through their second days use (light ground work/firewood) and found the fly zip has come away from the trousers. Really pissed off, and concerned as to the build quality of the rest of the trousers. If something so simple can come free, how good is the rest of the stitching? I have never had any trouser bust stitching in the fly, let alone £205 ppe! Really fed up as they will take a week to get back to Gustharts, and a week for them to send me some replacements
  8. Wood Chipper , Like Timberwolf | eBay Sorry forgot to add a link!
  9. Having a look at chippers on fleabay and found this. Is it a real vemeer chipper or is it some kind of copy? I dont really know about the chippers available other than Timberwolf and bandit etc. but it looks a bit odd to me. Shouldn't it have a safety stop lever thing around the hopper? Is it worth considering as an option if cheap enough? although i think if you have doubts you should just steer clear.
  10. Took me 5 seconds, I rule at scrabble! Only had a couple of glasses of wine and a pint of tea tonight.
  11. stien arbor trolley, like you dont have all the toys going as it is! nice!
  12. I cant rate my Volvo v70 highly enough. Its comfort and build are fantastic, 2.4 petrol 170bhp is like a rocket, 30 ish mpg but i thrash it a fair bit. Loads of room, leather seats are heated and easy to wipe dog hair and saw chip off. It is really well thought out design, and really solid, the stereo is great, I love it!
  13. I look forward to seeing it in action, keep posting the photos.
  14. What a great thread you guys have made, I really enjoyed reading through it. It seems that you have a perfect set up, fantastic kit, a good image, and the correct work ethic. Silky's work ethic being the stuff of Arbtalk legend. I hope you have all the success you deserve, and post about it for us to read about. Any young arb's getting into this field should read this thread, and silky's previous, and see what is possible if you work for it. Bloody well done.
  15. I have been looking for clothing for work, and found this site. The kit seems cheap and wondered if anyone here has used them? Hi Vis Hoodies, Fleeces & Softshell I would like to buy Harkie jackets for me and the chaps, but cant justify the expense , would be nice to have everyone dressed in branded clothing with company website details on. Was going to try a set for myself before doing a big order, but anyone with prior experiences with BK safety wear would like to hear your thoughts.
  16. Volvo V70 2.4 180bhp, best car I have ever owned. Its so comfy and goes like stink when you need it, bit sad on fuel tho at 32mpg with gentle driving!
  17. You could try the Forestry Journal and their Arb mag, Essential Arb? they have a sponsored page on this site. Good luck with the sale.
  18. What a nice looking truck, nice colour too! will you get it sign writen/wrapped? I hear a wrap will help keep the paint protected. Very nice indeed
  19. Just an update for anyone thinking about buying a pair of protective trousers, get the pfanner ventilation they came today and fit like a glove, and best thing is they come with free velcro braces! no more metal buttons jabbing you when you lean into your harness! If you have a 32" waist and want a good fit go for the small size, you wont be sorry.
  20. They did, grumpy bugger tho! I am so pleased with all the kit, but I am concerned that you sent stihl sweets mail order, shouldn't it be a in shop hand over for all stihl goods? Keep up the good work guys.
  21. A big thanks to Phil and all the fantastic folk at Gustharts, yet again you have done sterling work getting my order to me, and everything fits like a glove! Well done chaps ..................Again!
  22. Went and picked her up today, did a bodge with some gaffa tape and some ventilation ducting, and it went well for about 5 mins until the glue on the gaffa tape melted in the searing heat of the day, so pleased that it all otherwise works. Thanks for all the advice chaps, I feel ive done ok on this.
  23. I love my trips back to Cornwall, a little distance makes you appreciate a place more i feel.
