  1. Have found a fair bit of stuff already, most interesting was a metal bed, thought it was a machine gun with a typhoon attatched to it, turned out to be the bed of a german officer billeted in our house, as a rear guard to artillery placed at the end of our road. The family who lived here then were in a shelter in the garden. The house was straffed with machine gun fire from a typhoon, fataly wounding the officer and one of his men. they burried the bed (no tips in those days). Lots of bullet shells, one a live .50 cal, 30-06 etc. scores of horse shoes, hinges, bottles, and one pair of false teeth. Metal detector would be an idea!
  2. Let us know how she measures up.
  3. Yep, Im told that the armed forces have the blue and red of the tricolour velcro'd on for easy surrender! I once asked my neighbour if he thought france would host world war 3 as well as the last 2?
  4. Come on Waz77! normally you would expect to pay for that! Its FREE.
  5. Hello me beauties! A glorious day it has been today, so decided to dig a veg plot. While doing so I unearthed this old axe head, I reckon its fairly old looking at the design, but can anyone tell me something about it, or its possible origins? Im in Normandy, so its probably not a uk pattern, but looks like some kind of small fighting axe, like you might see in a robin hood film. my boot for scale purposes, size 10.
  6. Very sad news, sorry to hear that.
  7. Every mans fantasy that, forget about a couple of young Nurses, or Nigela Lawson with a pot of nutella and no spoons, or even being trapped in a womans prison..........................................................................No, a couple of Tramps getting it on
  8. I think its going to be a 05 ranger for me, they look tidy enough and with all the conflicting advice I've had on 4x4s it will be a case of just having to hope the ranger is ok.
  9. Would a trailer give you more versatility? I'm currently in a similar position and am looking at 4x4 for me and tools, and a ifor williams for the heavy/dirty stuff. Loads of options then, it seems most 4x4s dont have a very big load capacity, so for me a trailer seems the best option.
  10. The programme title is very descriptive. It's basically a series of hour long 'fly on s***' documentaries following 'gypsy way of life', mostly ramming down the throats of viewers tragic enough to watch it how extravagant one's life can be if your income is principally in cash, you keep your accounts in a very tax efficient manner and the law is not able to touch you. Audi RS5 anyone? Sounds like the channel islands? I hate all the horror stories i keep reading on arbtalk about their kit getting nicked by these vermin, and the police not interested. Anyone know how to make napalm??
  11. would not look at another Landrover, had a lot of them and always fixing them. if i had £10k then maybe i would consider a defender, to much electrical to go wrong on discos.
  12. Great, square 1 again. ok what is the best 4x4 van/ 3 door car for towing with good reliability, for under £4k?
  13. sounds like the trooper for me then, does anyone know if the diffs lock up on them? not that i plan on doing a lot of serious off roading, but nice to have.
  14. 20" would be what i would put on, maybe a 24" if doing softwoods, they still do the ms440 here and it comes with a 22" as standard.
  15. Trying to be clever and get a non commercial, as when i register it here in france, it will need a mot every year, and only every 2 years if a "domestic" car. I would get one of these sign writing wraps to cover the rear side windows, though more for advertising purposes than security, as crime is very low around here. Are these troopers worth a look? they seem to be robust and comfy from the images, but are they reliable?
  16. I made the mistake of steam cleaning my fs250's plastics and had a pig of a job to re fit them, also made the orange plastic a little dull. AVOID
  17. Our Labrador has just come out of weeks of treatment for a punctured eye. He hit a stock fence at full tilt chasing the post lady's van. he had loads of eye drops and in the end he had it quaterised / fused together and he is now fine, but it was a touch and go thing. only 2 weeks earlier he cleared the stock netting, at the same point in the fence, to become suspended by his winkle on the barbed wire above. ripped his chopper end off except for a small flap, had it stitched back on and is now fine, but you would think he would have learned from his first fence endeavour? Get your pup a rowes pasty and that will fix him up a treat!
  18. Just found isuzu troopers, they look nice. Isuzu Trooper 3.0 TD CITATION 3DR RAC WARRANTY 2003 If i took out the back seats it would be perfect, or would it?
  19. Thanks for the feedback so far guys, I have a while before I will be able to make the purchase, but i like to be as well prepared as i can be. I need something fairly tidy as it will have to last, and create the correct impression with customers. Another truck i like the look of is the nissan teranno swb van, any thoughts on these?
  20. Hi Guys, Looking at a 4x4 with mid size tipper trailer and on a low (high for me) budget of £6500. Been looking on fleabay at trailers and recon 2 and a half k should see me on an ifor. And looking on Autotrader at Nissan nirvanas, and ford rangers upto £4k. Not having another Landy, so what do you guys think? Not sure about L200's and hilux are pricey, anything ive missed? not too worried about cab set up, double or single, but will be getting a truckman type lid with it whatever i choose. Thoughts?
  21. I found my ms390 ran best on a 16" bar. It came with a 20" duromatic- it was ok but found a 18" rollomatic better, then put a 16" rollo and never felt the need to go bigger with her, apart from the odd time i put a 24" on when a 460 took a dive and we needed to finish up. Smaller bar will put less strain on the saw and it will last longer for it imo.
