  1. Hi Jon, I use fr jones and Gustharts and both have delivered fantastic service, in this case they were unable to deliver a stihl product to deepest, darkest Cornwall! Radmoor and Tucker will be getting all of my stihl orders now, and I recon most people in the south west will be doing the same.
  2. Just placed an order with them for a BG86, free delivery to Truro in their own van, look at their website, not a lot more than fr jones, and considerably cheaper than Truro Tractors @ £219 vs. £250! If I was after aftersales service, I would buy local..... maybe? but it will be coming out to France, and to buy local would be £100 more than fr jones! Also, from what I read on here, warranty repairs seem to come up short for most people, with poor communication between manufacturer and dealer, and little incentive for a speedy repair. Good luck to Stihl, but congratulations to those dealers thinking around the problem, and doing delivery/handovers.
  3. Hi Stu, Just boshed 3 sitka about that diameter, had a bet with the client as to how old.counted the rings and they were 38 years old. 26 meters tall, and a 28" bar just did them in a one'er, if that helps. would go with Doug fir or sitka? Bark just says sitka to me, but damned if I know why! If the clients that ignorant, let him have it, make your price that bit higher and tell him he is bang on with pine ident. tosser tax:thumbup:
  4. phoned fr jones today to see if they would send a stihl leaf blower to my Dad in Cornwall, the guy there checked for me and came back with a "no" he said the change in policy was for things like oil, or the like, not for tools with engines, even non cutting ones like the blower, got to get my Dad to buy local now at an extra £45! If stihl want to even the playing field for dealers, they should give them the same margins, otherwise its not going to be a difficult choice - Husqy!
  5. Also, any idea what the owl is for? driving at night?
  6. Hi Chaps, Looking at a set of new boots for my ranger and think the cooper discoverer AT3 105t OWL look good, in 235/75/15 Cant stretch to BFG:blushing: and these seem to be good, any feed back? This is a link to them; Cooper DISCOVERER AT3 235/75 R15 105T OWL OWL - 123pneus.fr
  7. Sounds odd, my old style sequoia has it on a card, tucked into a small pocket on the right hip.
  8. Thanks for that, did it make a lot of difference to the saw? Mine is ok, but a bit slow/flat compared to other saws that I have, so I don't really use it that often.
  9. Good to hear that, I will be sure to contact them when its my turn to get one.
  10. Just misread this, as "failure of a condom" that will teach me to just flick through!
  11. Hi Chaps, I have a little used 345 and while giving it a clean up today I thought to myself it would be a good saw to port. I have looked at the muffler, and it has an inner wall (baffle?) with a hole about the size of a 5 pence coin, and two flared slits on the exit point. Should both holes, inner and outer, be opened up, and by how much? Thanks for any advice.
  12. There is a new page, the smack break social, where you can post your videos. This page is mine and Jonny's bastard love child, and he will be giving away a smack break t-shirt to the best video, with the most likes each month.
  13. Well, if your going to nit pick little details like spelling, then yes, I suppose it does say 30th.
  14. So the dead line has passed and the entries must be getting checked as I type, so will the strange products we all dream of be making their way into production? I hope its my idea!
  15. Bloody hell, that looks nasty! Glad you and your team are ok.
  16. Would be good, could make for an interesting video too? Don't forget your leaf blower!
  17. I seen the logo, I'm sure we will be seeing it a lot very soon on a lot of new products coming on to the market, like "squirrel drey in a bag" and "chipper proof phones" Its the only seal of approval I need! And thanks for the likes on the vids Silky.
  18. Funny guy, he really makes me laugh, he even posted a couple of my videos on his page! Anyway, smack breaks over, back to slaying 200ft oaks!
  19. Welcome Patrick, I agree with you there, best forum ever!
  20. Hi Guys, A little advice required once again I have an avenue of 20 limes to pollard, which was scheduled for July/August, but due to a new power and phone line being installed directly over them in 2 weeks time, the job has been pulled forwards. The contractors installing said lines have said that the trees will be felled unless they are reduced to a height of 3 meters give or take. This was the plan anyway, but I'm not sure how well they will respond to such treatment with the sap rising at the moment? I am concerned that they will bleed heavily and die/ suffer. I have never used a wound sealer but would it help? A couple of pics for reference;
  21. A very nice video, and a very interesting proposition this saw poses.
  22. Never used them but have found Gustharts to be fantastic with their customer service, and they even speak in Northern! Get your dosh back and send it to a company that delivers Go Gustharts!
