  1. The gifts are from the super wealthy Parisians, the difference is they give you a bottle to drink when you get home, the local Normans will invite you in and share their homemade cider or Pommeau, even Calvados if your lucky. If you get given a bottle of one of these, it is a great honor, the Norman farmers are poor, and will even ask for the empty bottle back so that they can reuse it.
  2. Can anyone offer some technique for un clipping the saw one handed like on the husky promo video, I just can't seem to get it:blushing:
  3. I have a t540xp, its only had a couple of tanks of fuel so far and is running 14 inches of bar. I am mixed on my opinion of it so far, its got a lot of guts when the chain is perfectly sharp................but, its cheap build quality left me wondering if I had purchased a fake saw, its that flimsy! It needs choke to start, after anything more than 3-4 mins of non use. The bar feels cheap, will be replaced if sugihara ever release a bar for it:001_rolleyes:. Chain tension is tricky to obtain. my stihl combi can wont fit it:sneaky2: Not used the ms201t, but wish I had found a decent ms200t and had it overhauled. I would even toy with the echo topper if new was the way to go.
  4. Ok, so far the leaf blower has dealt with the lower half of the canopy.
  5. Knowing that a beating is being handed out will keep this customer loyal:thumbup1: ...................................That and the fantastic service, low prices and the speed and quality of the couriers you now use.
  6. Hi Guys, I was just cutting my grass when I brushed against a low branch of an alder and got showered in little caterpillars. I looked up and realised that they have skeletonised almost every leaf. Can anyone recommend a cure for these little s**ts?
  7. Hi Guys, Does anyone know of a reference guide for different chainsaw cuts, both on the ground and in tree. with pics or even video? I was trying to demonstrate and explain to my groundy some of the different cuts, and their uses, but I found it difficult to verbally explain and be understood. It may also have some techniques that I have not used/experience of so could be of some benefit to myself, and some of you too?
  8. Plenty of Brits around here, too many:sneaky2: Im not in wine country, its all apple related here. But I do love the wine and as nfg says, you can pick up a drinkable table wine for under 2 euros, but the real treat is when you try something with a decent vintage. I'm no expert, but we get given a lot of very nice wine from our Parisian clients, and the difference is amazing! A tip I picked up when buying in a super market is look at what the french are buying/not a lot left on the shelf, they know their wine!
  9. I love mine! I was never the most confident of climbers, went from prussick to vt/hitch climber, back to prussick. I didn't feel confident on the vt, as I had to dress the hitch every time, even if it didn't need it:blushing: The zig zag has changed the way I climb from the first time I used it, I feel confidence that was not there before, I can concentrate on what I am doing rather than worrying about my hitch. Inspect your kit daily or more often if you feel the need, if your trusting your life to something then trust it.
  10. These came today, another great bit of service from Gustharts:thumbup: But no stihl sweets................ where's the love?
  11. Because the auto stop one works really well with all the others. I went to my local dealer and we offered up the old style husky auto fill, still didn't seat properly, this time the shoulders were to broad, and the nozel didnt go into the tank fully, spilling fuel. will buy an old school combi for this saw, and stick with my tried and trusted stihl on all the rest. Its only a small niggle, but want to be moving forward with technology not backwards:sneaky2:
  12. Mine wont fit:thumbdown: And Stubby, its only been used twice, today was its first work out, bogged down a lot and lacked revs when needed, hope the auto tune will sort itself out soon. Going to buy a new fuel can tomorrow, bloody bind:sneaky2:
  13. I used my t540xp properly for the first time today and discovered that husky have made the fuel hole so small that it wont accept my stihl fuel spout, my other huskys are a tight fit, but this is tiny! Any mods out there, or do I have to buy a separate fuel can for this saw?
  14. I am originally from Truro, two things I can tell you, 1. Truro people are very honest (unless from Trelander) and 2. there are not a lot of trees about, so doubt its done a lot! Hope its a good un.
  15. I would estimate at least 75% of my work is via the website, which in turn is from internet searches/online listings. Its the way people find things nowadays, if you want something you google it. My feelings are it is a way for the client to see you and your work before meeting you, it lends confidence to them. Its not expensive and works 24hrs a day.
  16. Now when you say hook.................? sorry to be a pain:blushing:
  17. Is your groundie pulling the line taught? I can't quite see.
  18. That crossed my mind but I have been spending too much on kit, this is how I feel and not how my wife makes me feel, honest! Mr. Coates himself! tree working royalty:blushing:, I have just brought one of your arb trolleys from one of the members on here, and love it!
  19. Thanks for that, makes more sense than buying a dozen biners and slings:001_rolleyes: I was going to tie in the line using an alpine butterfly and choke the stem, so that I can slacken it off each time I move up to the next row of branches, does that sound correct, or should I use a sling around the stem?
  20. I have an opportunity to do some zip lining in a couple of weeks on a fair sized doug fir, its not a technique that I have used before so this tree in a safe position gives me the chance to try it in a safe environment. Anyway, I was wondering what is the best type of carabiner for attaching the sling to the line? Should I use steel rigging biners or could wire gate types be used for speed? Any other advice re; a zip line would be appreciated too:biggrin: Thanks in advance
  21. I have a side ejector ride on mower, the ones you see all over with different branding on them, I think its an electrolux brand. I have a collection tube and two boxes for the rear end, and find the tube will block fairly regularly even with short grass clippings. This is especially so if i cut a patch that is still a little damp, say in the shade when the rest of the lawn is in full sun. Its a pain, as often you don't realise that its blocked until you notice the tyres are picking up clippings, or you come around for the next sweep. Has anyone got a fix, or better yet a mod like some kind of fan assist? btw, blades are sharp, deck clean, tube clean. if that helps?
