  1. Thanks for all the replies, I couldn't find the time to venture north of the border as had a lot of family commitments, and pasty munching to do. Rowes pasties in Truro have slipped a bit I feel, but Annes pasties behind mallets of truro were proper ansome. Some flipping emmet was asking about Ginsters at the till! If you like Badger in your food carry on London boy! The overall range of arb/forestry tools was poor in all of the shops I visited. Although these were ag shops for the most part, like Truro tractors and sadly the prices were very high on the kit they did have, with little or no room for negotiation. However, I did have a great time at Macsalvors at Pool (always do) and grabbed a load of hand tools like forks and rakes....................if only they opened a store here!!
  2. Thats my plan b, I haven't been home for a few years, so not sure if there are any shops in Cornwall?
  3. Can any of the Cornish tree fighters recommend a bricks and mortar shop for tree climbing supplies? I will be over for a few days this week and wanted to try on some spurs, and have a look at some other goodies while pasty scoffing! I would rather not venture into Devon, but will if properly armed:001_rolleyes:
  4. They are not a bad magazine, lots more practical info than essential arb mag, that is full of "life stories" and little in the way of practical advice. I understand the deadline/release is a bit hit and miss, and the content is alot about rescue, and pages of leatherman tool comparisons, but other than that its a well rounded mag. TBH there is far more info available here on ARBTALK, and you dont have to wait for it to arrive in the post, but for something to read in the loo its good! I also keep essential arb in the loo, but not for reading:thumbdown:
  5. Your welcome mate, I didn't want to get involved but my groundy did an incredible one and nominated me, the swine:sneaky2: He lined his transit tipper with a tarp, filled it with water, got a sun lounger and laid down in just a thong and water wings, I couldn't back out after that. Its on the smack break social page of facebook.
  6. Not had a problem with ear defenders, but the foam inserts soak up sweat like a sponge. Doesn't make putting it back on much fun, and it stinks after no time. Not used a petzl but thinking about getting one soon.
  7. This is my groundy http://https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=688475024569122&set=vb.100002198915172&type=2&theater The swine nominated me:blushing:
  8. I couldn't get a dmm oval to fit the top hole of the zigzag, I used a petzl O and this works well.
  9. The ms390 will just about run a 20" but it wont be great. I had one and run a 16" on it and it went well, the 18" was ok, and on rare occasions even a 24" in softwood, when my then mainline saw 046 took a dump. Its not a bad saw imo, but not the same as the saws talked about previously in this thread. The OP is asking about a Husqvarna 390xp not the stihl ms390. Chalk and cheese I'm affraid:001_huh:
  10. Gotta say the zig zag helped to improve my confidence no end
  11. Get back into the saddle asap. This is just natures way of reminding you that your not superman. Your kit held, and your alive. turn this around and make it a confidence booster, if in doubt get a strop round a branch, and pull up your slack. There is a world of difference between confidence and over-confidence, don't confuse the two. Like when your 17 and learn to drive, then scare yourself doing something a little bit reckless. You learn from it and move on.
  12. If I could sell it I would! had it on for 2k for ages and nothing but time wasters:001_rolleyes: It is my quoting car too as its good on fuel, so not always stood in car parks, and only during open hours.
  13. I just park our Kangoo in the local super market for the day with the sign writing in a favorable direction, get a few bites that way.
  14. Well, i seem to think that you know a thing or two about websites, so it should be off to a flying start! Anything that makes it easier for the client to get hold of you has to be a good thing imo. Good luck with the campaign.
  15. 390xp tried and true, I love mine, and once the warranty has run out, I will have spud run his hands all over it and make it magic like stubby's!
  16. I haven't seen any data, but the number of people with smartphones and short memories seems to be well on the rise. A couple of stickers on the truck will only cost a few pounds, and if it brings in just one client I will be happy:thumbup:
  17. I don't do firewood, but what a very good idea:thumbup:
  18. Thanks so much for the help, I'm getting some bumper stickers printed to complement my sign writing and will add this to my next order of cards and flyers too.
  19. And here it is! I cant get my head around the technology of today:001_huh:
  20. Wow, that was easy! only took 30 seconds:thumbup: I will get that printed up this week! Thanks for your help chaps:thumbup1:
  21. Does anyone have a flash code (little square barcode) linked to their website? I was thinking it may be an idea to have them on my vans for the techies that dont have a pen and paper to write down my number or web address. I had a look on google and got completely lost in jargon:001_huh: Any help or advice gladly received.
  22. So, I have been racking my brains and thought I had a solution in the form of a sliding tray/shelf to hold the clean kit like ropes and climbing kit. I forgot completely about the arb trolley which scotches things, so back to the drawing board:confused1:
  23. I have just had a read on AO and they seem to get a fair right up:thumbup: Unless the bargain of the century cs100 turns up before September, I think I will have a punt at one and see how it fairs.
  24. Cheers Stu, I would if they would hurry up and approve my joining! I don't really want anything too big, I was looking at a nice cs100 down near Finistere for 3500€ but it got snapped up:001_rolleyes: This one looks like a reasonable model and is over a grand cheaper than a jo beau m300, but possibly with good reason:blushing:
