  1. How much would you take for one?
  2. Well. All of "my" climbing work is done by subcontractors, because thats not what I as a person do, but when my company does it I want the most professional work I can get. However. If a client asks "Can you take that branch off?" I/we will put a point across, from the health and appearance of the tree perspective, and try and come to some conclusion where everyone is happy. But I wont say "I'm not doing it because it's lob sided etc.". But neither would I let the above happen. Fortunately I don't do much domestic work, so I get by without thinking about this very much
  3. Top notch as always matey:thumbup:
  4. "Bodgeing" Jobs and not working to the trees best interests are not the same thing surely?
  5. Don't get me wrong I like working for the tree, I tried it, and I can't afford to - simple as. The clients pay the bills and there will always be some despicable scrote who will do what he is told, good or bad. Way of the world.
  6. If you don't someone else always will.
  7. Nice to see your still up to it in your old age Proper job
  8. Impressive. It is indeed. Playing the matador in Blood and sand, cracking film about bullfighting, he said that although people overlooked it - his best and favorite role. The cocktail (Whisky, blood orange juice and a couple of other bits) he concocted during the filming is one of my top drinks, and also called a blood and sand.
  9. Haha, real cool guy, but not an actor when I think about it, just looked like him. Alright, another old one.
  10. You know what they say. I man calls you a horse and you punch him in the mouth. A different man calls you a horse, and you call him a bar-steward. A third man calls you a horse, and well, maybe its time to buy a saddle Happy 40th mate .
  11. Bloody hot yesterday, even hotter this morning but lovely breeze this afternoon Guess which fool forgot to put suncream on his neck though...
  12. Its not easy work and the money is bad, but I'd rather cut than do that climbing rubbish! I'm mainly working small hardwood woodland patches, and bigger stuff when I can. Its alright
  13. I hope he gets through as above - thoughts are with you, its amazing what they can do these days. I have been dyslexic forever, I got a lot of help from a teacher at primary school, his final words to me where "Just read, it doesn't matter whether it is the Beano or The Quran". Read them both by the time I was thirteen On paper it is probably the fact that I was the under 18 all England archery champion from 12-15.
  14. Serious love for the old boy "When I left the navy for this job-which-isn't-a-job I was commander of a frigate, since that day I have spent my life walking 4 steps behind her god awful hats"
  15. I was only joking chief, your boats are pretty top too these days - the lough boats are second to non.
  16. Just took all the skin off it. Hurt like a female dog for weeks, as well as the bandage.
  17. True. However I read somewhere that due to lower levels of something () it produces less tar than other green woods, and less than some seasoned. This may be very wrong, thinking about it. If it is I will eat my hat. But the book seemed good
  18. Shot hundreds, probably thousands of squirrels foxes and rabbits and have never killed anything I didn't want to. I don't have an issue with snaring, I've done and do my fair share, but it is not 100% "clean", far from it. I too know the ubiquitous "old boys" that have taught me snaring. I'd like to see anyone set yan that is completely sure not to kill anything that trips it. Sam, I was once running through one of my woods and tripped over, catching my nose in a snare, it wasn't pretty and I have never been a fan since
