    I may need to label my logs as "Not fit to burn, only use as garden ornaments"

    I help out at a charity that promotes horticulture and agriculture for people with disabilities. They have a small woodland that is about 25 years old and pasture kept as wildflower meadows. They have some poplars that need taking out of the wood and some maples that need taking out of the hedges. Is there anyone near Lichfield or Burton on Trent area that would consider taking these down for the wood. I know it is a big ask but we are a small charity and this year has left us strapped for cash.

    I have been asked to cut an apricot tree quite hard as it is getting too big for the garden. Is this something I could do now and how will it responed to hard pruning. ps. no apricots for several years

    None of us know how we would deal with things until they happen. I only really saw 2 options, carry on the best I can or give up. Not given up yet!

    I broke my back in a road traffic accident, I was driving no one else involved.6 Broken ribs too, I thought all other aches and pains would be easy to cope with after that. Been in the wheelchair nearly 17 years now. Still active, Looking after 4 gardens as well as my own and 3 veg patches. Cut and split logs with electric chainsaw and electric splitter. Getting arthritis in middle finger and the pain is something else at times. Getting older isn't any fun but have had a pretty good life all in all. 62 now

    A £12 capacitor was at fault. Thanks to Brother in Law who suggested I looked there first! New one fitted today and the splitter is running fine again

    It is on the low line screwed out but not below. I would not have expected the motor to cease though

    My log splitter has been faultless until today. I get arb waste and use an electric chainsaw for my own use in a large farm house. I started it up today first time since lockdown and all was going fine until I stopped to move some logs. When I switched it on again it sounded as though the motor was jammed and then it stopped. After moving all the logs in the way I changed the fuse. tried it again but switched off immediately as it sounded jammed still. wondered whether it had a belt drive behind the guard but as you can see there is a hydraulic motor coupled directly to the motor. Any advice would be gratefully received.

    Breedon quarry is near to derby and their stone compacts to a firm finish. If it gets rutted it is not a massive job to grade with a digger and run a wacker over to compact again. 50mm over sub base should do the job fine or as others have said road plannings if you can get them

    Had first earlies from the polytunnel last week. The top leaves had been touched by frost. Just shows the biggest problem with polytunnels. They get hot very quick and cold very quick

    I have the titan vertical 7 ton splitter and it is good for me. I work from a wheelchair and the biggest hassle is getting the logs up to the platform but I have some help most weekends. If they are too big I get them split into halves or quarters while my help is here

    A European bird cherry, Prunus padus, in our village has lost a limb resulting is a tear in the bark down the trunk. A friend that helps look after trees in the village asked if I had any tree wound paint to help preserve the tree. I told him that I didn't think it was the best thing to do but said I would ask hear as I know many of you have much more knowledge about tree care than me. Would you paint the wound or leave it to do it's own thing.
