  1. Explain that one away! I'd only pull it by hand for that reason
  2. Can you get a bit of rope around some chunkier bits and pull more off at a time? Or too brittle now?
  3. Thanks will look into it, again today did a sycamore reduction and had to climb most of it twice to get the hangers out so really want to get a decent set with a hook to save all that time and effort!
  4. Looks like an old Greenmech without the plastic cover?
  5. You can't get pics like this at the top of someone's manky conifer!
  6. Exactly right, we spent last week in a caravan in Yarmouth and same in May in Dorset. Will aim to go again this year. Gonna take either half day or all day off Friday purely because my 4 year old is leaving his nursery to start proper school so they're doing a little sing song assembly. That's worth more than money I run older gear, earn a little less but all the flashy new gear can wait until they're out with their mates or coming in to earn a bit on the school holidays
  7. I was told once that one day you'll put your child down for the last time, tickle them for the last time etc.. and you'll never know it was the last time. That's stuck with me so it's top priority to spend the time making memories while I can. I can count on one hand the number of weekends I've worked in the last four years (apart from some pricing)
  8. You're nuts! Your kids are only there once, then they're grown and gone. If I've got a chance to play with mine while they're little over anything else, they'll always win, I'll never look back and think I wish I saw them less and worked more

    Tiny echo!

Got mine two weeks ago. Top marks to skyland if no one else has theirs!
  11. Which poles are you using? Keep meaning to get some but never get around to it!
  12. That's two minutes of my life I won't get back again
  13. Just got a set of these. Only took two weeks, two phone calls that weren't returned and a stroppy email asking for a refund for them to put the teeth in the post 😡
  14. [quote=Richard Thompson;1475640 Can you see one of the big company's diluting there brand by branching out to China ??? Yeah.. They say as much in their website
  15. Just carry on as you are for now, you can declare extra income and pay the tax if needs be and some pl just for hedgecutting wouldn't cost much at all if not insuring tools or employees liability
  16. Accounting is one thing as most businesses will need you, with tree work if no one needs you one week it's unlikely they're going to anytime soon
  17. God no, tried that for a year, massive waste of time. It's all about getting new members to join and very little work from it
  18. Sounds like it's down to them or their insurance company to make sure you're not out of pocket
  19. A smaller second chipper is definitely a good idea. Had a tw18/100 that was my first chipper but relegated to back up but had to sell it when a transit died so needed the cash to replace it. Hard decision but needed a replacement vehicle more than I needed a spare chipper and a loan to pay back
  20. But even so if I had to pay out better part of a grand a week on top of regular expenses I'd be doing well to take home £100
  21. How'd you make any money on the jobs after paying that??
  22. Where's that from??! Just checked and local Greenmech hire place to me has them at £350 for 5 days (I guess plus vat)
  23. Lump it at the mo, mine went down this week and lost time. Would hire one if was serious and I had the work for it. Ideally have a backup machine but no room or money for that at the mo
  24. So you want a discussion about your own website? How's about no
