  1. Why can't he ask if others have had problems? There's plently of threads on other chippers, saws, and one or two about forst quality as well on here. I prefer people do speak about faults with machines so that it helps others make a decision if thinking abut buying one Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  2. Not at that price. Was on the phone to redwood yesterday needing some bits for my Jensen so asked for a quote and trade in price for my machine and would still be paying over £300 a month for 60 month for one given the trade in and a deposit. Need a lot more convincing of the quality of the machine before I could consider signing up for that Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  3. Yeah there's other things too such as thin see through paint but as I say all second hand knowledge, think there's some Friday afternoon machines out there Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  4. I've no experience of the machines but have heard similar stories on Facebook such as throttle cables being held in place by cable ties to keep costs down(?) and one chap had the hydraulic system blow pipes on its first day Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  5. eBay mostly as I tend to be using a saw and either blunt it or notice it's getting towards the end of its life and it's easy just to type the saw model into eBay and hit buy it now on the chain i want Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  6. Did you get the job? Don't leave us hanging Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  7. Right I've just ordered 2 for my 550xp. Let's see if they're better! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  8. Fair enough. I find them solid reliable machines myself and wanting a 6 inch chipper under 750kg it's either this or the timberwolf, and everyone has one of those so wanted to be different! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  9. I bought a Jensen a530 2004 for just under 6k. Good machine, easy to work on Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  10. I bought one in May and is a normal carb Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  11. Only ever used 14 on this sized saw, 10 on the new breed lightweight reduction saws Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  12. I'll give them a go if they have changed in quality. Bought some efco branded chains last week from chainsdirect via eBay as had 5 on auction at £20 for my t540! Haven't used one yet but £4 a chain you can't go wrong! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  13. Fair enough, hopefully the new ones are better, seems like could have been some quality control issues before Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  14. I don't know about that, up a tree there's no chance of dirt and stones. When I used a piranha chain on a 550xp it was dead inside of 5 minutes and I didn't feel or hear it hit anything substantial, gave the impression the metal was too soft Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  15. Sounds like a real bargain! Nice to hear people buying older stuff and doing well with it rather than the usual 'you need to buy brand new and be making payments every month til you die' Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  16. You're probably right. That just about where I am, but I seem to be forever buying something else or repairing something. Money can be good when things fall right for example i took £400 for two small jobs on Friday and was on my own for the day, but then you factor in the cost of the gear / running costs and downtime due to breakdowns or weather and it doesn't feel so great! 17. It suprises me that they've still not upgraded the 125 to a petrol derivative of the 230 yet. I'd imagine it would sell very well Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  18. It's ridiculous the money you spend to do this job, was in a bar recently and the bartender says to me all he needs for his job is a bottle opener and a till key. I'm stood there thinking I've got over £10k (current value) of stuff all needed to do mine! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  19. And if you're a small firm £17k for a new machine is a bit out of reach so you become good with spanners pretty quickly! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  20. Can't see why it can't be discussed or a few jokes about the subject myself, fair enough if someone got hurt Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  21. Dunno! Haven't seen 'the incident' mentioned on here so the arbtalk police might not be on the case quite yet! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  22. Rigging is for amateurs, take a leaf out of bartletts book and fell everything [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  23. Perhaps! I sometimes read people comments on here or the various Facebook pages about tree work and see some of the people thinking it all super dangerous, and think to myself is this line of work really for you? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  24. [emoji28] yeah climbing trees like kids do and cutting bits off is certain death. Who do these firefighters and soldiers think they are pretending to do more dangerous things Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  25. Well it's 5hp and the next one up says for keen gardeners so that'll be the reason for price, not built for commercial use Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
