1. Its a little ott but haven't seen this system before it before. Bit slow really, and overly complicated. And I'm sure the system isn't cheap! [ame] [/ame]
2. I liked the idea of chipping too, when I first got my machine, but it can be very fiddly and time consuming on the wrong material. I ditched the idea and sold the machine on. Depends on your own situation. I'm way over west, with a bit of land to have burn ups on. If I get a bigger then usual job I hire in a proper chipper for the day and blitz it. Otherwise its gets thrown on the trailer, no delays, no messing about untangling chaotic hedge material, just home and burn.
3. Seem to be worth it for sites with narrow access/chip stays on site type jobs. Not sure how much work your doing, but if I have to drag back to truck anyways, I would sooner just break down with chainsaw in trailer, and dump/burn later. Thing about these small chippers is the amount of prep required pre-chipping. My 4'' pto yoke did , not like bendy hedge crap, and could not deal with even small branch unions. Bearing in mind this was also a hydraulic feed roller model, which I believe the cs100 is not.
4. Also try and process on dry days if using this method to season.
5. Very efficient Beau. Well done.
6. Your setup always improving Beau Remember you speaking of the timber trailer before. What does it handle well with your tractor - 3 tons loads? Always liked the idea of a timber trailer with grab, particularly for use in the yard, loading processor etc. Does the grab work well for logging up oversize with a chainsaw?
7. I tried this with green sycamore once. Had to re-open and add more to each bag 6 months later. Was a pita.
8.
I'll get a few for you this weekend. whats your email address?

9. Yeah deffo. On pallets with cover, windy spot, will be well on the way in late feb.
10. Well Dermot, That Orec is a beast of a machine, really impressed with what it takes on. Chipper gone now, yeah, went to a chap in county Laois. As you can see I finally resorted to making crates, IbC's still hard got round these parts. Did you get your old winch in order?
11. The Orec has been out in force recently, and a new ride in the woods through some dense laurel cover.
12. Thanks for all the replies on this, hadn't really considered the density issues of branch material vs heartwood, turbulence, etc.
13. Of course this all boils down to what your customer prefers. Lets say your stove can hold 4 6inch diameter pieces, will these burn slower, faster, or at the same rate as the same 4 logs split in half. I reckon, it will be the same, with the same heat output. Having an argument with a chap giving out about smaller diameter branch material burning faster then an equal volume of same in larger split diameter form in his stove.
14. Logging on steep ground. [ame] [/ame]
15. I deal with a lot of arb waste using a thor 13ton 2speed ram, thus most of time I am only using 6.5ton pressure which is more then adequate for the majority of stuff. A lot of it comes down to the blade design, the single thor blade is more knife like then wedge, thus compensating loads through shear force rather then splitting force.
16. Ashton Court pictures - love the last shot. Is it just me or is there a hint of blue in the skyline.
17. I really enjoyed that.
18. A small horizontal will be tricky to operate on 100cm diameter rings. Vertical with waist high table ideal. With a 4 way slide-on head for smaller stuff. Also much easier to centre rings on a vertical setup, and more forgiving on wobbly bendy pieces. A road tow Thor/posch vertical would be ideal, but big dosh - but alternatively you could opt for a power pack generator and an agri spec splitter.
19. nice.
20. Lovely looking range that there. Does it take long to get it fired up to 200°c, and is it easy to regulate at a standard temp thereafter.
21. Cheers mate.
22. Hi, Did you catch what contraption that was on the back of the Nuffield. I spy some masts and hydraulic motors, but not sure if it is some class of winch/baby skyline setup??
23. Fascinating stuff Eddie, outside the box thinking.
24. I've never seen a quick hitch like this before, that's mad. What kind of Hydraulic motor powers the pto shaft? Was it designed specifically for the winch or does it power other pto implements as well.
