  2. Hmmm sounds good. There's a 474 for 900 quid no cab or a 474 for 1500 quid with cab. Which to go for? the cab would be nice, but the 600 quid towards a loader would also be good! Am i being to vein about all this? i want it to look ok for going on the road etc
  3. its a 474 nash 60hp was looking at a 444 nash but no pas and only 40 hp but has cab. Is it a roll bar or complete cab chap?
  4. Where can these be sourced? roll bars, as i've had a look on google but to no avail
  5. Evening all, Is a cab or a roll bar a neccessity/require ment for use of a tractor on the road etc? Is it best to not bother with a tractor with no cab or saftey bar? Cab for an iternational tractor hard to come by? Cheers
  6. i have a ms261. Its a cracking saw have you read up on the sprocket, rim/spur and crank issues etc? I changed mine to a spur sprocket and changed needle bearing (didn't need to but did it foe piece of mind ) and its a belter! running a 15" bar, and an oregon chain. I was using it for conifer bashing one day (removals) and when it was out of fuel i was passed my old 024 which was ready fueled up and it was loads lighter and felt really nice! Apart from that good saw "E" clip that holds clutch drum on went missing the other day i'd noticed when i stripped to clean, anyhow replaced it now. isn't a 271 a landscapers type saw? i.e more heavier also? (not looked into specs though! )
  7. Ya bugger, thats the model of tractor i want lol!!! ih 574
  8. I've got a sj 2.1 now, got it at the arb fair, are you using a pully on cambium saver or art rope guide etc? and what rope you using> I'm using 13mm xtc and just a normal cambium saver, used an art rope guide a few weeks back it totally transformed it! Has he said when the husky top handle is out?
  9. Bump, anyone??
  10. Been and looked at the 990 db, When starting it up the link arms lifted up and stayed in the up position, it has a pick up hitch, not just a draw bar, so thats another bonus. Cabs shoddy and needs work. Also its just manual steering. its a lot bigger tractor than the int 444 though. Anyone help? Loaders easy to come by for the 990 db? Should i stay well clear of the db?
  11. nearly bought one the other day but the farmer who i rent land off said he'd boot me and set if on fire lol
  12. Both the david brown and the international are about a grand. The david brown is 57hp and the international is 42hp or 40hp Aparently the david browns are bad for hydraulics? any help?

Need to have a loader fitted/ or can be fitted at some point, Maybe go on the road with a 3.5-4 tonne tipping trailer at the back. Seen a few tractors about, Whats international 444 like? ALso david brown 990 selectamatic? What would you suggest and what hp? Any help appreciated Cheers
  14. yup So before i get off to sleep 18-24" apart and 14-16" away from the wall sounds ok, maybe the 16" if planning to trim the wall side back
  15. Hi there Its just what the customer has purchased to replace the big conifer hedge i removed and ground out. It was a case of conifers well out grown the situation. They wanted a decent hedge thats evergreen and can be kept tidy. They also want it trimming when necessary, maybe twice a year when established. I also realist the room laurels take up, esp girth and the need for adequate space needed. it may be a case of planting further back from the wall and trimming the wall side as to keep 3-4" room between it and the wall.
  16. Walls not too bad... would you plant a bit closer then? Have to say the wall would be 3ft high at its highest, so will be towering over the laurels for a little while...
  17. So anywhere between 18-24" then. Also how far from a single course wall.... The customers don't want the hedge in the middle of the garden but don't want to interfeer with the wall.... was thinking 14-16"
  18. Evening all, I have a hedge to plant soon, the plants are laurels. Quite small specimins! Probabilly only 14" tall and only 5" wide at the moment. Looking for advice one how far to plant apart really. Would you still plant 18" or even 24" apart even though the laurels are so small? or would they benefit from being spaced apart for the light etc? ANy help greatly appreciated. Going to plant with compost also to get them going Cheers Chris
  19. The saps really crap for clogging prussic's up! Really annoying on a takedown on your metal strop, where you have to propper struggle with it when its gunked up to get it to move! I've bought a isc rope grab for my metal strop.... Not sure what you can do really, i suppose it will give you probs with all hitch cords. I've gone to a spider jack now, will see how that does. good luck! i know, i've been there
  20. Hi there, i'm afraid i have no pics of the tree but, i've been asked to do some work on it (blue atlas cedar) , but have noticed that quite a lot of needles all over the tree have turned a pinky colour and it has dropped a lot of needles..... Is this due to the weather like the other threads that have been started? or something else? The home owner has cut some branches back. I've seen a few cedar that reduce fine and are fine, but not sure whats up with this one. Bit reluctant to do anything at it for now... Any help appreciated (i know its vague)
